Here's a look back at the 10 worst remakes and remasters of all time.
Silent Hill HD Collection (2012) 45h6k

Silent Hill Collection can be considered one of the worst remasters of the story. The collection integrates a supposed improvement in the visuals of the second and third games of the acclaimed franchise of the Konami, but it was very unsuccessful in the reception of fans, showing major flaws in its development and serving as a bad example in the games industry until today.
Some horrible textures in the games are clearly poorly done, such as the stages with fog, asphalt and water. Also, the brightness was very dimmed and seeing what's on the screen is a big effort, even considering its genre (horror). Some sound effects were redone and characters were re-dubbed, most at odds with the originals and incredibly crude. None of the works, however, brought positive results and contributions to the title, launched to Xbox 360 e Playstation 3.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition (2020) 6i526f

O remaster de Mafia 2, classic title 2K, was not the least bit happy on its release. Full of bugs e glitches, not only in textures and 3D models that suddenly disappeared, but in sound effects and in the voices of the characters. A game quite disrespected for what was delivered, leaving fans furious when presenting a work very spoiled by many crashes in reproductions of recorded voices and broken textures, which were completely normal in the original version.
Warcraft III: Reforged (2020) 4rh6c

Real-time strategy games had their time, their golden age. With Warcraft III it was no different. The game put the Blizzard Entertainment in the pioneering spirit of the genre, in addition to Starcraft, its worldwide successful franchise. However, the remaster of RTS has not been successful in recent years: it brought an aesthetic different from the 3D models, little graphic polish and presented a series of bugs that broke the textures of the sprites during gameplay, contrary to all promises that the Blizzard did. Very frustrating to those who waited so long for the news.
GTA: The Trilogy (2021) i6b3p

The long-awaited edition of Grand Theft Auto remastered, “The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition”, arrived on modern consoles and PC at the end of 2021 and motivated the purchase of many people, but caused a lot of controversy when it was released.
A Rockstar was heavily criticized by fans for selling the games GTA III, San Andreas e Vice City in a single package, at around R$300 in Brazil, delivering remasters quite bad: the quality of the textures came out too poor, a series of bugs absurdities were witnessed and the visual style adopted ended up falling into the valley of strangeness (as it remained more cartoonish than realistic, maintaining 3D model formats from the original games). All these factors, combined with a still very defective artificial intelligence, culminated in total disaster for the classic games in their remastered version, once so prestigious.
TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled (2009) 723j2p

O remake TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-shelled attempted to bring a graphical and mechanical overhaul to the franchise's classic arcade, Turtles in Time. The result was more of the same: a game that innovates very little in the differences compared to the original in of the spatial notion of 3D, very little distinct and impacting in gameplay. The character animations look weird amid the weird framerate delivery at certain times too, which contributes to the title being on this list. It would have been better to have just stuck with the classic, despite an interesting visual and online mode.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD (2012) 2u7237

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD was part of a wave of remakes e remasters for 7th generation consoles (Xbox 360, PS3 e Nintendo Wii), but it didn't bring considerable changes beyond its graphics. this version remake of the much-loved franchise still left some attributes aside, such as the local co-op mode with split screen. In addition, physics had bugs absurdities with a certain frequency, mainly in the physics of collisions. The remake didn't convince a lot of people and it certainly never captured the spirit of fun that the original version carried.
Goldeneye 007: Reloaded (2010) 4r5c6t

The classic title Nintendo 64 of the most famous spy in cinemas was a great success at the time. Your remake, however, arrived at the Wii with very blurry visuals and a poor shooting mechanic to be controlled by the player while moving around the scenarios and aiming with the weapon at the same time. Also, the enemy AI was somewhat despicable and the stealth of James Bond (007), the character you take on, rarely worked. It remains only to cheer for remakes e remasters better in the near future.
XIII (2020) 3g4m

An FPS title that gained very little attention from gamers was XIII and, for some reason, the Ubisoft decided to remaster it. Since its release, the problems have come to the fore: very rigid and weird animations of the playable character, enemies that lock in T-positions (default way they are drawn, when they are still without their AI and its functioning) and many more errors and bugs that leave a bitter taste with broken gameplay at all times.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (2004) h2i2a

Is there any remake as violated as this in history? Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes arrived for the GameCube with a different gameplay than the original (previously present in the second title of the franchise, sons of liberty). The changes made to the title don't change almost anything, except for a very blurry and blurry image all the time, especially in the cutscenes. In addition, some critics demanded that there be more drastic changes and a level design more in line with the original's challenge pattern, which makes a lot of sense for the title.
Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons (2013) 29612w

for sure, the remake Double Dragon II: Wander of the Dragons It was one of the worst ever made. The game sustains boring gameplay and a very bad narrative by the standards of the franchise. beat'em up, from arcades in 1987. Worst of all is that it has absurd frame rate problems, something essential for fluid gameplay in the genre, that is, it ends up making the act of playing it extremely boring.
Remakes and remasters will always exist and have become a trend in modern video games, regardless of the length of time any titles are between the original's release and the present day. Good examples abound, but it doesn't take much effort to come across games like the ones on this list. Let's all hope for the good work of the developers and, above all, for the lucidity of companies and their investors in the future.
