This Tuesday (23), the Grammy Academy officially announced the list of nominations for the Grammy 2022. Considered the biggest award in the music industry, the event celebrates the biggest acts in music of the last year in a grand celebration that will take place on the day 31 January 2022. 4m2y1b

The 64th edition of the Grammy Awards brings something new. Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Academy, announced live that there have been changes in the number of nominees in the four main categories — namely: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Breakthrough Artist. Now, in each of them, 10 artists occupy the place for the prize instead of eight, as it was until then.

Another change in the rules of the Grammys is that the list of nominees was decided through a group of voting , similar to what is already known at the Oscars. It's the first time in 30 years that this has happened. In the past, the choice was made by a committee pre-chosen by the Academy. The intention of these two amendments is to make the indications more comprehensive and fairer.

Jon Batiste is the artist who led the number of nominations in this edition, in 11 categories. Jon is a pianist known for his multifaceted jazz and R&B music. His most recent work was in creating the soundtrack for Disney's Oscar-winning film Soul.

With 8 nominations, Doja Cat, HER e Justin Bieber occupy the second position. Olivia rodrigo, one of the highlights of the year, was nominated in the four main categories. Already Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish entered three of the four biggest categories, being outside only New Artist.

We also have Brazilian participation in this Grammy. Eliane Elias, pianist from São Paulo, was nominated for Best Jazz Album with Mirror Mirror, which was recorded alongside Chucho Valdés and Chick Correa. Furthermore, Ludmilla, Anita e MC Lan are on Major Lazer's album, which received a nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album. Although Brazilians are not the nominees, their participation in their respective songs is nice to be ed in some way.
