The term live action is used to define films with real actors, physical (or hyper-realistic digital) sets and special effects. In the case of Disney, the live actions, for the most part, are adaptations of classic animations, recreating iconic scenes with real-life actors, elaborate costumes and cutting-edge technology. It is important to mention that, even when the film uses completely digital characters — as in the case of the animals in The Lion King (2019) —, he is still considered live action for its realistic visual style and the way it is produced, closer to cinema with actors than to traditional animation.

Although many people use the “live action"and "remake” as synonyms, they do not mean exactly the same thing. live action is the name given to films that use real actors, physical sets or real-world filming. remake refers to a new version of an existing work — whether animated or not.
