Even though none of those were in one of the main categories – Best Picture, Best Director or Best Original Screenplay – the wins of Black Panther are already worth all the effort and value the masterpiece that is this film.
Another Marvel movie that took home a statuette was Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. With its diverse animation style and script blending multiple alternate realities and timelines, the film won over Pixar in the category of Best Animated Feature.

Best Costume Design, one of the first categories presented, was given to a black woman for the first time. Ruth E. Carter was responsible for the clothes Black Panther.
