Russian company engineers Intellect Machine created a prototype Russian robot dog that has a high-precision rocket launcher attached to its back. The electronic pussy, which has gained the name of M-81, has a high destructive potential, but could also be used in rescue missions. The electromechanical device was tested and shown to the public during the Russian Army-2022 International Military-Technical Forum, a weapons conference taking place throughout this week in Moscow. u6m69
One of the features that drew the most attention concerns its use in combat situations. According to the engineers responsible for the “pet”, the robot dog can also shoot rockets with precision, identify targets, carry out patrols and transport weapons and ammunition. Among civil activities, the machine of Intellect Machine is capable of carrying out work in emergency zones and helping rescuers carry out reconnaissance, find paths through rubble or deliver medicine to victims trapped in places that have been affected by natural phenomena or armed conflict, for example.
On social media, some videos show the device working. In the images, it is possible to see that the robot's legs can bend, rotate, perform backward and forward movements, as well as flex, so that it appears to be lying on the floor. In addition, there are cameras in the place where the eyes would be. On its back, it is possible to notice an RPG-26 rocket launcher, capable of intercepting and shooting down missiles that are at a certain distance.

A Intellect Machine informed that the prototype presented at the exhibition was built mainly with Chinese components and technology, and costs the equivalent of R$ 81,5 million. The company says it hopes to launch production of these robots in Russia soon.

Covered in a kind of black tactical outfit, the robot's origin has come to be questioned by some s on the internet. What raised suspicions about the real origin of the M-81 were the optical sensors on the front of the robot, precisely the only part that is not covered by the ninja costume. According to experts, the “uniform” was used to disguise what would be under the clothes: a chinese robot sold on AliExpress for $ 2.924 (about R$ 15.000 at the current price).
In fact, the Russian robot bears a striking resemblance to the UnitreeYushuTechnologyDog (Unitree Go1) from Robotic unittree. Therefore, it seems quite clear that the robot was not designed by the Russian manufacturer that exhibited it at the “Army 2022” exhibition, much less has any military level of any kind, not being able to launch missiles, let alone participate in armed conflicts.
After the backlash, the Intellect Machine itted that he used the Chinese robot dog during the presentation at the Moscow military fair. However, the company stated that the M-81 is just a prototype and that, in the near future, it would be manufactured entirely in the Russian country.
The American press also sought out the Russian Department of Defense, so that the agency could comment on the similarities between the robots. However, the entity has not publicly commented on the matter so far.

Also according to its manufacturers, when it is launched, the Russian robot will be 58 cm long, weighing just over 12 kg and capable of carrying loads of up to 10 kg. Finally, it will also have five depth cameras, an artificial intelligence (AI) system and should reach a speed of up to 17 km/h.

Despite the novelty, even if involved in controversy, the M-81 presented in the Russian capital is not the first robot dog created for security purposes. The Portland Air National Guard in the United States also has similar equipment in its arsenal, used since the beginning of the year for “monitoring and security”. Florida Police also own a robot dog named Spot from Boston Dynamics. It is used for public safety purposes and “in extraordinary situations involving risk to the lives of civilians or first responders”.

Another recent case that shows a robot, which resembles a dog, using large-caliber weapons, came to light when a video released by Alexander Atamanov shows the machine shooting at specific targets, as if it was training its aim - you can see more in showmetech trio from 25th of July. However, the solution is considered homemade and is not regulated by any public security agency.
