After a huge fan internet campaign for the singer to be the first Brazilian to win an MTV VMAs award, Anitta was awarded as the best Latin song video at the event that took place in person at the Prudential Center em Newark, New Jersey. The singer received exactly 25.875.136 million votes and competed with big names in Latin music, they are:

- Bad Bunny — Titi Me Asked;
- J Balvin & Skrillex —In Da Getto;
- Karol G & Becky G — MAMIII;
- Daddy Yankee — REMIX.
Despite being the first singer to win the award for best Latin video in MTV VMAs 2022, another Brazilian had been nominated before 2022. Any Gabrielly, from the super group Now united, even received a nomination in the category of best group in 2020.
