With the aim of interconnecting the two largest Brazilian cities and improving the efficiency of the internet network in the South American continent, the Google is once again undertaking a pioneering idea, which will come out of the role in and will actually be implemented. In the beginning, the idea was to carry out the ing of an optical vibrating data cable between the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo by land, but due to risk factors, the project started to target the coastline present in both states and thus manage to positively exploit a little more of our technological resources. 6ql2
For market analysts, this news was received as something extremely positive for our national product, as the new fiber cable would be produced together with the padtec, a company born in Campinas, sp, but which already has good international credibility, being well known in the terrestrial optical transport systems. With this new project, the company will also become a producer of submarine optical transport systems.
The cable was baptized with the name of JUNIOR, in reference to the draftsman and painter Jose Ferraz de Almeida Junior, born in the year 1850. The connection will be made from the Macumba Beach in Rio de Janeiro to Praia Grande in Baixada Santista, the distance between the two points is approx. 390 kms. Operations are scheduled to begin in second half of 2017.
The developed cable will consist of 8 fiber optic pairs and throughout its extension will be used 3 submarine repeaters. O JUNIOR will make connection with other ocean cables existing in the region. The first one is called MONET, which is approximately 10 thousand km, it will connect Boca Raton, in the state of Florida, to two cities of great importance on the Brazilian coast: Fortaleza e Santos. The second cable is called TANNAT GRAPE, which extends over 2 thousand km, Santos the city of Maldonado, at Uruguay. For those who are curious to know how a repeater works, like the one we are referring to, check out the images below.

We can note that even in the face of the complicated situation the country is going through, Brazil is still in high demand for reliable digital solutions.
