Brazil will have two new mobile operators for the next few years. The news comes after the Winity II Telecom and brisanet take lots made available by the Anatel during the auction held in the entity's auditorium, in Brasília. A Winity II Telecom, linked to Fundo Pátria, disputed the 700 MHz frequency band with two other companies: NK 108 Empreendimentos e Participações SA and VDF Tecnologia da Informação LTDA, which offered R$ 333,3 million and R$ 318 million, respectively. The minimum bid was BRL 157,6 million.
According to Anatel, the lot has a national provision area, with some exceptions: cities in the State of Minas Gerais, the municipality of Paranaíba, in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, the Municipalities of Buriti Alegre, Cachoeira Dourada, Inaciolândia, Itumbiara, Paranaiguara and São Simão, in the State of Goiás, and the cities of Altinópolis, Aramina, Batatais, Brodosqui, Buritizal, Cajuru, Cássia dos Coqueiros, Colombia, Franca, Guaíra, Guará, Ipuã, Ituverava, Jardinópolis, Miguelópolis, Morro Agudo, Nuporanga, Orlândia, Ribeirão Corrente, Sales de Oliveira, Santa Cruz da Esperança, Santo Antônio da Alegria and São Joaquim da Barra, in the State of São Paulo.
The second newest operator in the country, Ceará brisanet is currently the largest telecommunications provider in the northeast region. Born in 1998, in the city of Pereiro, in the Greater Jaguaribe region, the company has around 800 customers spread across more than 100 cities in the Northeast. With the victory recorded today, the brisanet won the right to expand the broadband network and also begin offering mobile phone services in all nine states in the region.

5G is considered the new generation of the internet, being associated with technologies such as the internet of things, autonomous devices and vehicles and the use of virtual reality. According to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), the forecast is that 5G will work in the 26 capitals of Brazil and the Federal District in July 2022. For all cities in Brazil with more than 30 thousand inhabitants, the deadline is July 2029.
The 3,5 GHz band, one of those auctioned by Anatel, is exclusive to 5G and has a high transmission capacity. It is the most used frequency band in the world for 5G, being considered ideal for urban areas. The 700 MHz frequency is more suitable for rural and densely populated areas, such as roads, for example.
The operators that win the auction will also have a series of obligations to fulfill. Among them are:
- Availability of 5G in all capitals of the country by July 2022;
- Construction of the private communication network for the federal public istration;
- 4G internet guarantee on Brazilian highways;
- Installation of the fiber optic network, via waterway, in the Amazon region;
- Financing the costs of the migration of open TV via satellite from the C band to the Ku band (new antennas, receivers and the installation of such equipment for low-income families);
- Assurance of quality mobile internet in public elementary schools
