It's not a prank! Valve decided to break the silence and revealed what everyone has been waiting for: Counter-Strike 2 exists, and will be released in 2023! Via its official YouTube channel, Valve revealed three separate videos that detail the major changes coming to the popular shooter, check them out: d1p2x
Maps and Graphs 346j5p
All of the community's favorite maps are being rebuilt within the powerful graphics engine. Source 2, previously used in Half-Life: Alyx. maps like Dust ii, Nuke e Over new textures, improved global lighting, realistic lights and reflections, and much more.
According to the video, the Counter-Strike 2 developers used three basic fundamentals for recreating these maps. First, some core maps like Dust II will simply receive simple graphical upgrades like new textures and lighting, but their baseline remains unchanged when compared to the previous game.
Afterwards, the developers focused on recreating maps with real improvements in lighting, reflection and materials, using a unique physics system from Source 2. And lastly, older maps were rebuilt from scratch, abusing all the improvements that the graphics engine can to offer. Additionally, these tools will be available to those who want to create their own community maps.
Goodbye, Tickrate! 416k4r
In previous versions of Counter-Strike, the server used a system of ticks to identify commands made by players within the game. This system evaluated actions within a discrete interval of milliseconds, and commands made between these ticks were not answered by the server. Because it was an antiquated system, it was responsible for certain delays in commands (like missing that AWP aimed shot).
In Counter-Strike 2, Valve is replacing this system with a new type of tic. Now, this space between one tick and another no longer exists, and the server becomes more accurate in representing the commands made by the players, whether walking, shooting or jumping.
realistic smoke 2k5y14
A smoke is one of the most important items in the competitive Counter-Strike scenario, as it is responsible for hiding information from your opponents. In previous versions, the smoke bomb was something more static, and not always accurate (as each person saw the smoke in a different way).
In Counter-Strike 2, the smoke grenade will be fully dynamic, adapting to the scenario and existing equally for all players. Now, the smoke is completely composed of 3D volumetric objects, that is, it exists and is part of the game's scenario, just like you and your weapons. Smoke now expands based on location, dissolves with your shots and movement, and reacts to light the same way it would in real life.

In addition, Valve promises improvements in audio with remasters and recreations of classic sounds like the gunshots and background noise.
