Ti West invites the audience on a completely insane journey. With simple sets and saturated colors à la 'Wizard of Oz', 'Pearl' is like a satire of a satire. What makes this experience so fun — even as a horror movie — is precisely how the director embraces the stupidity in this story. Despite being very different contexts, the feeling is similar to 'M3GAN', when the killer doll dances frantically before performing absurdities.
And in addition to directing very well, Ti shoots and frames beautiful scenes that value this character and her relationship with the setting. Before shared with several actors, now Mia Goth has all the spotlight for herself and manages to deliver a show. Her character has such a complex mind that she becomes a peculiar and imposing figure for those who watch her.

This film follows in much of the footsteps of 'X', but with fewer murder sequences. On the other hand, the film makes up for it with a captivating script and full of memorable moments. Each ing actor is a catalyst for the protagonist's destructive potential — and the audience already knows where this is going, but it's a delight to appreciate Mia's charisma on screen.
Perhaps the second most iconic figure in the feature is Ruth (Tandi Wright), the protagonist's mother. A strict woman, who takes care of her sick husband at home and demands obedience and responsibility from her naughty daughter. Constantly juggling from horror to comedy, Ti West's second film in this trilogy is more complete, addictive and full of Mia's vitality.

Horror fans and slasher may find a new darling with this movie. After the tremendous delay for the release of the feature in Brazil, this is the time to enjoy and honor one of the best performances by an actress of last year. It's fun, exciting, harrowing, and pretty crazy (in a good way).
Due to the previous release of 'X', we recommend watching it before 'Pearl' to immerse yourself in this character's universe through different eyes. The film is available on streaming at Prime Video. But, in any case, as it is a story that takes place before 'X', the order in which you want to watch it does not affect the understanding of the facts.
The year 2022 was a masterpiece for horror cinema, and this one is a fine example of that. Don't act like the Academy at the Oscars: honor the birth of star Mia Goth.
