The big news of the presentation was on of the new open world Pokémon game, called Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which will come to Nintendo Switch in early 2022.

The game trailer shows a trainer being introduced to three starter Pokémon from a variety of regions: Rowlet from Alola, Cyndaquil from Johto and Oshawott from Unova. The game takes place in the region of Sinnoh, and features trainers that look like the trainers you play as in Diamond and Pearl, but with a Japanese twist from feudal times.

In addition, the game introduces new mechanics to the series as throwing old Poké Balls at wild Pokémon seems to capture them, without the need to fight. You'll also be able to sneak through bushes and explore a variety of areas in Sinnoh to catch different types of Pokémon. And of course, you'll still need to battle your way through certain parts of the game, beat opponents, and cross obstacles.
