CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and X says the company and its directors, including Sam Altman, abandoned the mission to protect humanity against the risks of artificial intelligence

A lawsuit initiated by the state of California brought a scandal in the technology industry: Elon Musk, who was one of the main investors in OpenAI when she was still taking her first steps, she sued the creator of the Chat GPT. 84bm

He claims that the CEO Sam altman closed an agreement with Microsoft with the sole intention of making a profit, which goes against the initial purpose, defined when Musk was still an investor. Learn more about the process and how it will unfold in the future.

At the end of 2015, the OpenAI began its activities as a company that would not be focused on profit, but rather on developing technological innovations that would be accessible to everyone. When we access the OpenAI website, this is the text talking about the company:

We founded the non-profit OpenAI in end of 2015 to build safe and beneficial general artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. A project like this could previously have come from one or several governments – a humanity-scale undertaking aimed at broad benefits for humanity.

But, as you might imagine, the money for research and development of artificial intelligence technologies would have to come from somewhere. In 2020, Sam Altman closed a deal with Microsoft, which was and still is one of the company's biggest investors at the moment.

Allegations of the process 2446h

Musk justified the process with several arguments (Photo: Reproduction/Reuters)

In the first years of operation of the OpenAI, Elon Musk He was also one of the people who was part of this team of financiers. He stepped away from the 2018 board for reasons that were not explicit and, six years after that, he claims that Sam altman practically “sold” OpenAI to Microsoft, as the largest technology company in the world is one of those that most implement OpenAI features in its applications and in Windows. The process says:

OpenAI Inc. has been transformed into a de facto, closed-source subsidiary of the world's largest technology company: Microsoft. Under its new board, it is not only developing but also improving AGI to maximize profits for Microsoft, not for the benefit of humanity.

Furthermore, another accusation of Musk is that the OpenAI is putting humanity at risk by developing a AGI (acronym for Artificial General Intelligence) without the knowledge of experts. An AGI is a type of AI that has the general ability to understand, learn and perform any task that a human being is capable of doing.

The implementation of this system remains under constant discussion, raising ethical and security questions and potentially affecting various positions in companies. To date, the AGI has not yet been understood, however, several studies continue to be carried out to develop the system without harming other people.

Elon Musk also mentions that the Google is wanting to profit from the development of something new like this and this can get out of human control, even if some care is taken.

When people like Musk see an existential threat in AGI, others see AGI as a source of profit and power. AGI represents a particularly acute and harmful danger to humanity.

Possible existence of Q* (Q-Star) 1j2z57

In November 2023, we published an article about the possible existence of a “super artificial intelligence” that can be considered an AGI and takes the name Q-Star. Everything remains in the “maybe” box, as there is no concrete data that Q* (also called Q-Star) exists and the OpenAI does not even comment anything on the subject.

Leaked data shows that Q* would have the capacity to break encryptions, which are nothing less than the basis of security in digital processes. In addition to being able to create messages and encrypt them, super advanced AI would also have the possible ability to quickly access customer data. Depending on who has access to the Q*, this can be a real problem.

But this AGI is talked about even before a name about it actually exists. On November 17, 2023, Sam Altman was fired as CEO of OpenAI by the company's board, after he allegedly hid the existence of Q-star. In his case against the OpenAI, Musk states that Q* is really in development and will bring big problems for humanity.

If Q* actually exists, this confirms the main reason Sam Altman was removed from his duties, as he did not report the development of AGI to the board. Elon Musk also claims that the development of GPT-4, a language model launched in 2023, was created in secrecy by OpenAI, Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, president of OpenAI.

He says that, practically, the language model was made available only for Microsoft, in addition to being available only to paying s. And it was at this moment that the “OpenAI founding agreement” was burned. “This secrecy is motivated primarily by commercial considerations, not security,” cites the process.

Finally, he points out that the Microsoft has “leverage power” within the OpenAI, claiming real news like the hiring of Altman for a few days by the creator of Windows. It is important to that Sam Altman returned to his role as CEO of OpenAI days later, now with the AI company having a new board. But Musk mentions that this also caused problems:

The new board introduced after Altman's reinstatement lacks the expertise to determine whether the company has achieved AGI and therefore whether it has produced a product outside the scope of Microsoft's license. This lawsuit was filed to compel OpenAI to adhere to the founding agreement and return to its mission of developing AGI for the benefit of humanity, not to personally benefit the individual defendants and the largest technology company in the world.

Experts cite that it is unlikely that Elon Mus' lawsuit against OpenAI will actually hold up in court, as it is based on an exchange between Musk between the richest man in the world and Sam altman made in 2015. US courts even accept that contracts be signed via email, but Brian Quinn, law professor at Boston College Law School, mentions that the email looks more like a proposal and a “one-sided discussion” than a contract.

Another comment is that Musk could not process the OpenAI due to not being on the OpenAI board. This way, there is no possibility of claiming that the company broke its founding agreement.

It is difficult to see that he has any legitimacy to try to enforce his 'founding agreement' or the certificate

Lastly, Musk I would like to receive the money you invested in the creator of Chat GPT, but that shouldn't work either: he mentions that the company stopped following its purposes only in 2023, when it was no longer part of it.
