Probably, if you are a veteran in video games and especially in Atari, you must have heard of some of these great hits:
Space Invaders, Asteroids, Combat, Centipede, Asteroids, Super Breakout, Warlords, Missile.
Since the 1980s, the artistic roots of games have been traced to Atari games, the company was at its peak and had the best artistic covers, by virtue of which all these images were gathered in a book, considered memorable for video game fans. See some of them below:
Expected to arrive in October, The Art of Atari will have 350 pages and will be published by Dynamite Entertainment, reaching the price of approximately 39.90 dollars or 140.00 reais. The book brings together images of game packaging, ments, concept art, design documents and behind-the-scenes footage of the game's production. The hardcover version is available for pre-order at American Amazon.
Em The Art of Atari the authors Robert V. Conte e Tim Lapetino tell the story of the first major game publisher that gave Atari the opportunity to showcase their work.
Tim Lapetino, a graphic designer, said he began his work with the book shortly after meeting and ing Cliff Spahn, an artist who worked for Atari in the production of their images. According to Tim, the art present in the game's box is the portal to a new world, as it is the moment when the has his first with the game's proposal, and seeks to know it out of curiosity and/or affinity. Lapertino also pointed out that the art present in the game's box super breakout is your favorite!
The only problem that persists to this day about Atari, is the lack of documents and stories kept of the company, since at the time they did not care about storing documents because they needed large physical spaces and many things were destroyed or lost with the time.
