Review: Moto G7 Plus, Motorola's top mid-ranger 303n5p

Avatar of Heinar Maracy
The Moto G7 Plus is a well-balanced mix of high-end features with simpler solutions and a compatible price.

With four different models, the G line of Motorola has options for various types of s. It has a simple model for those who want to pay less than R$1.000 (Moto G7 Play); a device with a monster battery of 5000 mAh that takes digital TV (Moto G7 Power); there's the base model, the Moto G7, kind of lost in the middle of the middle; and, at the top of the list, a smartphone for those who would like to have a model but don't want to spend a lot (Moto G7 Plus). 2kf4g

Like any mid-range device, the Moto G7 Plus is a mix of cutting-edge features with simpler solutions to make it attractive to those who don't want to spend a lot on a smartphone.

The big visual difference of the new Moto G line is the notch, that little mustache at the top of the screen that was born on the iPhone and was soon adopted by several manufacturers. On the Moto G7 Plus, the notch is subtle, in the form of a drop. Since it spends a lot of time in the middle of the black status bar, you don't even realize it's there.

The transparent plastic case that comes with the model is a very nice touch in times when manufacturers cut all possible accessories. The fingerprint sensor is on the back, in the circle with the Motorola M. Every now and then I didn't get the recognition right the first time, but nothing that one or two more attempts wouldn't solve.

If you don't think the ultra-vibrant, hyper-contrast AMOLED displays are all that, then you'll have no problem with the Moto G7 Plus's LCD screen. The colors are very faithful and the resolution slightly better than HD (1080 x 2270) is great for watching movies and checking your photos. It's not the best display on the market, but it doesn't disappoint.

The sound of the device is surprisingly good, thanks to the stereo speakers with Dolby Audio. Even at maximum volume the sound is not distorted.

The dual-lens rear camera is the highlight of the Moto G7 Plus. With 16 megapixels and optical stabilization, it is certainly one of the best cameras on smartphones under R$ 2.000. The camera has high-end specifications, with an aperture of f/1.7 and a sensor of 1.22 micron. You can get very acceptable results in low light situations.

Not only hardware lives a camera. Motorola has gone to great lengths to include some pretty cool features in the software, easily accessed in a transparent menu that takes up the entire screen.

Group selfie. A kind of mini-panorama. You rotate your phone until everyone fits into one long photo.

Picture: Uses the second camera to blur the background and create the famous bokeh effect. It is not as versatile as in more sophisticated cell phones, but it allows you to take beautiful pictures.

Cutout: Automatically crop the image background for you to apply another background. The result can be strange because the software doesn't do the ideal clipping, but it can be interesting among s under 17 years old.

Cinemagraph: That animated GIF-style effect where a still photo brings an element that moves. It takes a while to get the hang of it but it's a fun option.

Timelapse : Creates lightning-fast movies by stitching together photos taken a few seconds apart. In conjunction with camera stabilization, it creates some very interesting effects.

YouTube live: Great function for the people who have their own little channel and want to make lives uncomplicated. Just click the button and shout action.

Hardware and performance 6t446p

In one week of use, the Moto G7 Plus never choked. The device uses an eight-core Snapdragon 636 processor and the Adreno 509 GPU. It is not the most powerful chip in the mid-range Snapdragon, but with 4 GB of RAM it can handle everyday tasks without problems.

For those who like numbers and benchmark tests, the Moto G7 Plus scored 4830 points in the Geekbench 4 multicore test and 947 points in the 3DMark Slingshot, which tests the graphics capability of the device. In more common language, this means that it is really an intermediate device capable of running most tasks without major difficulties (just to compare, the Moto Z2 Force, the company's top of the line, scored 6493 in Geekbench and 4862 in 3DMark ).

Playing PUGB Mobile, the current real-life test of Android devices, he can only play without dropping frames at low image quality. In other words, if you're a gamer, better save some money for a beefier phone.

O Moto G7 Plus comes with a purebred version of Android 9. Apart from the Moto app, it's all by Google. All the new features of Android 9 are there, unmodified: gesture navigation, the status bar cleaner and adapted to the notch, option to capture screen by holding the power button or tapping with three fingers, Google Lens, etc.

The few changes to the interface are a few more gestures to turn on the flashlight and the camera and the Moto Display, a preview of what's going on on the device that appears when you pick it up and lift it. You can also choose to replace the three Android buttons with a wide button that brings the functions back and toggles between apps when you swipe left and right. I found it practical but those who don't like it can just leave it in default mode.

Battery 554u5p

It's a great relief to go out in the morning with a cell phone in your pocket without worrying about carrying cables, power supplies or powerbanks. The 3000Mah battery comfortably holds a day of photos, Waze, internet and videos, without letting you down. If you think that's not enough, you can go from Moto G7 Power which, according to Motorola, holds more than two days without needing to recharge.

And fast charging? There's nothing more exciting than plugging in your cell phone, going for a coffee and, when you come back, it's 75% charged. Yes, it's astonishing. In just over 15 minutes it reaches 50%, enough for 12 hours of use, according to Motorola. In less than an hour it fully charges. That alone is reason to never buy a smartphone with conventional charging again.

So, is it worth it? 5p2b4h

O Moto G7 Plus it's a well balanced device with good performance and a great camera for its price range. If you are not a hardcore gamer nor are you after the device with the best camera on the market, it is a great choice. At a time when high-end models are hitting the market at exorbitant prices, it's a relief to have a mid-range solution at a reasonable price that won't let you down.
