The Mancer Valak ZX240H gaming monitor shows the future of the category with refresh rate up to 240Hz and more; come check out our review!

Let's face it, we all doubt the usefulness — and necessity — of curved monitors, even more so for the gamer universe, so full of frills that it's hard to understand what innovation is and what excessive gourmetization is. Fortunately, the gaming monitor Mancer Valak ZX240H is an exception to this observation, given that its refresh rate of up to 240Hz is refreshing for eyes accustomed to less fast rates. In addition, it has very interesting features that make it worth the cost-benefit. 5f1o4z

Valak, to the unwary, is the name of a demon. It has become more famous recently for being attributed to that nun in the movie Evil Invocation, even though the nun herself has little to do with the eponymous demon beyond the designation. Another apparition of this name is in the—terrible, it should be noted—film Vampires, by John Carpenter, from 1998, in which the entity is considered the first vampire to walk the Earth.

Etymologies and cultural representations aside, Mancer's demonized monitor arrives in a very inviting box, especially for those who like the color purple. It is plausible that you feel sorry to take the product out of the packaging, even more so if it matches yours setup, as was my case — and which you can see below.

As to box contents, there's the classic instruction manual, the monitor, an HDMI cable, the power cord and the base of the product. There is nothing extravagant in this sense, given that the monitor bets on a simpler and more direct construction, without many unnecessary stylistic innovations; this does not mean that the style is ugly, quite the contrary, the design is dynamic and functional.

If you have never used a curved monitor, it is to be expected that the strangeness will occur in the first few minutes, also due to the large size. I say this because I use an old Samsung 19-inch monitor as my main screen most of the time, which, in a way, is addictive to the eye and leaves us a little confused in displays bigger and more modern.

In addition to what has already been mentioned above, the is very simple and easy to attach. This, of course, if you are not a little incompetent with manual work, as is my case, then I recommend looking for one assembly video on YouTube. In any case, there is the option of installing the product on the wall, but, for that, it is necessary to purchase the parts separately.

Overall, it's a simple build but very effective monitor. The highlight in this section is the joystick present on the back right of the screen, responsible for changing settings and making the monitor more personalized according to each preference. I felt a little difficult to move it exactly, given that any command turns the product off, but with a few days' practice you can get the hang of it without major obstacles.

Finally, the smooth curvature is really nice, as it doesn't confuse the head like more sharply curved monitors and helps increase the field of view, almost as if it's hugging the — not in a sense. cyberpunk of dystopian technology, but something more cozy, shall we say.

Connections and technologies 1w441t

The monitor inputs — no, he's not bald, just you — are, of course, on the back. The downside is that they are all vertical, so the wires will show anyway. Personally, I don't care for exposed wires, given that my entire room is one big, almost post-apocalyptic tangle of potential destruction, but if you're the type of person who prefers a cleaner look, it's got that detail.

Entrances are vertical, which can be a deterrent for a setup closest clean. (Image: Pedro Bomfim/Showmetech)

Anyway, this part is pretty straightforward: they are two HDMI inputs and two Display Port inputs, enough for anyone who has one setup decent at home.

And speaking of setup, there are also some interesting details to point out. A flicker-free and Low blue light are features that help keep blue light and flicker under control, less tiring your eyes and collaborating for healthier use, even after hours of gaming or work. Allied to this we also have the technologies freesync e G-sync, which contribute to greater fluidity and less occurrence of tears on the screen, mainly in games, due to the mismatch between the and the processor.

Performance 58a2u

How I tested the Mancer Valak ZX240H in many ways, I decided to separate by sub-chapters and explain the performance in different formats. Feel free to read only what interests you, according to your monitor-related desires and desires.

As a general consideration, I consider it relevant to bring the information that the rate of up to 240Hz makes a difference. It is even a subtle change for those who are used to other refresh rates, especially if you have purchased a newer smartphone, but its impact can be felt with prolonged use of the technology. The transition expresses a lot of fluidity and the movements look more natural.

That said, the base computer used for the analysis is not an advanced model, quite the contrary, it is a lowly input worker. Consequently, it was not possible to run very absurd games that used their full potential, but it was possible to notice drastic disparities in the Valak ZX240H relative to other monitors. Anyway, the analysis follows.

second screen 682320

Used as a second monitor, or screen, as you prefer, the Valak ZX240H is quite promising. By extending the screen to perform multiple tasks, it becomes very intuitive to use multiple applications at the same time. Because it is a larger model than the main one, fragment this use is highly recommended, leaving the screen smaller for more immediate activities or activities that require more attention.

For means of comparison, it is very fruitful to duplicate the images on the main and secondary screens. That's when you realize how the refresh rate makes a difference, whether in games or even in everyday activities, such as proofreading a text, reading articles, watching videos and/or audiovisual pieces or just surfing the internet. Below is a quick example of moving the mouse on both screens.

TV n1wb

Even though this isn't the best use, I decided to test the Mancer Valak ZX240H gamer monitor as a kind of television. That is, I connected a PS4, removed headphones, speakers and other devices that could mask any incongruity, in order to test the product's performance by itself.

This was the least interesting test, so to speak. I mention this because, although the refresh rate is a fundamental aspect in the PS4 menu, for example, the monitor sound quality not the best to justify using it that way. Of course, this doesn't interfere at all if you're going to use it with headphones, but there's this detail of a slightly muffled sound that gave me the constant feeling of ing through a tunnel on the highway.

Main screen 3h495g

The flagship has arrived. Used as the main screen, the monitor shows what it has best, whether in the contrast of the screen with the VA (vertical alignment), in the transposition of blacks and technical details of the genre. Due to its size, standard activities, such as editing texts — yes, I am an editor and proofreader, how did you notice? — are facilitated due to the size of the screen. Always ing that the ideal is to stay a little further away depending on the width and height of the product so as not to damage the vision.

Watch videos, movies, series, livestreams and other media is an experience worthy of tops of the line on the Valak ZX240H, this is because the monitor delivers visual quality and a response rate of 1 m/s, amplifying the aforementioned dynamism of the device. It's also great, for example, to follow journalistic events in the standard output resolution, like some international ones in 60 frames per second. Although the computer used is not ideal, I also tested the monitor connected to a slightly more powerful gamer notebook, and the result was excellent.

Although the monitor is composed only of blondes, there was something that made me a little apprehensive: the infamous ghosting. No, it doesn't mean that the device simply stopped responding to me and blocked me from its life, but rather that there was a kind of trail left by the difference of, I imagine, a few milliseconds between the monitor cable and the PC. Again, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt judging by the less powerful computer — even though this happened on the notebook too —, but be warned if something like this happens. It's nothing serious, but it's important to emphasize that it exists.

Conclusion 60664y

The monitor's instruction manual helps a lot for anyone who is lost, including felines. (Image: Pedro Bomfim/Showmetech)

The Mancer Valak ZX240H gaming monitor is a great investment, presenting high quality cost-effectiveness and that promises to deliver several great games throughout its useful life, in addition to high excellence in image for audiovisual pieces and for those who work with design. In fact, if you're looking for a gamer monitor for an acceptable price that presents features of more expensive lines, the Valak ZX240H is a great choice.

It's not difficult to assemble, although you may need a little help from YouTube. It's also not difficult to move the rear joystick to change settings, just spend a little time trying to learn the trick of not turning off the screen every time you do that. The 27 inches represent an ideal size for gamers and non-gamers alike, well worth the money invested.
