O Google Chromecast is a device widely used to allow the consumption of content from streaming on older TVs – and also lets you access platforms that don't have a native app on smart TVs. By default, to update the chromecast to the latest version of firmware just keep it connected to the power source and the network, and the system takes care of ing and updating the latest compatible software. But if that doesn't happen, you can update manually through your smartphone or PC. Here's how to update your Chromecast.

The device is configured to and install the with latest automatically. However, it may be stuck for some reason, and you can help with the update:
Step 1: access the page of Chromecast Firmware Releases and Notes and in the section Current production firmware version, check the latest version for your Chromecast model.
Step 2: open the app Google Home (available to Android e iOS) on your smartphone, and make sure your Chromecast is turned on and connected to the same network as your mobile phone.
Step 3: Tap the Chromecast you want to check if it's up to date.

Step 4: On the page that opens with Chromecast information, tap Settings (gear icon).

Step 5: In settings, go to Device Information.

Step 6: In Device Information, go to the section Technical information and compare the number of Google Cast Firmware with the latest version of with that you consulted in step 1.

Step 7: If the version is the same, the firmware is correct and there is no need to update the Chromecast. Now, if the numbers do not match, continue following the steps to update the firmware.
Step 8: still in Device Information, tap the three points (upper right corner) and select reset. The device will automatically restart and install the latest firmware available.

Now your chromecast is up to date and ready to be used again.

Did you do the previous steps and it didn't work? You can try an alternative way to update Chromecast using your PC. The process is not that trivial, however there are no risks involved, so it's worth a try. Assuming you already checked the firmware Chromecast, follow these steps:
Step 1: no app Google Home (available to Android e iOS) on your smartphone, select the chromecast you want to update.

Step 2: in Chromecast info, tap settings (gear icon).

Step 3: Nas Settings, access Device information.

Step 4: In Device information, go to the section Technical information and write down the IP adress from Chromecast (in the example below it is 192.168.15.8)

Step 5: on your PC, go to Start menu and open the app Windows PowerShell.
Step 6: on the command line of the program, type the following command, replacing [IP ADDRESS] with the IP Address of the Chromecast – which you wrote down in step 6 – and press Enter.

Step 7: keep the PowerShell open until the process completes.
