The event was held in a virtual way, with transmission by YouTube and featured the participation of Tim Cook, CEO of the company. O iPhone 12mini (first model to have “mini” in the name) has a 5,4-inch screen, while the “normal” and Pro have 6,1-inch screens and the Pro Max comes with a 6,7-inch screen (the bigger than the Apple already made for an iPhone). The iPhone 12 mini and the “normal” come equipped with a dual camera system. The Pro and Pro Max models have a triple system.
All new smartphones from Apple will 5G and A14 Bionic processor. However, it is the first time that the devices won't come with charger and earphone in the box. According to the company, this is a measure to reduce carbon emissions. Thus, the box will only bring the device and a USB-C to Lightning cable.

The new visual proposal of Apple for its smartphones, it mixes the concepts of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 11. Another novelty in relation to the screen is the “ceramic shield“, which Apple developed with Corning. The manufacturer guarantees that this is "stronger than any glass in smartphones", representing the biggest leap in durability of the iPhone.
The manufacturer also reported that smartphones have IP68 certification, which guarantees resistance to drops and splashes of drinks (water, coffee and soda, for example).
In of performance, the iPhone 12 comes equipped with the A14 Bionic, which is manufactured by Apple using the five nanometer (5nm) process. According to the manufacturer, this makes this processor the first to be manufactured by this process, bringing the fastest U and GPU to smartphones on the market. THE Apple did not inform whether there will be a change in the amount of RAM between the models.
This combination of U and GPU ensures a gaming experience similar to a console, according to Apple. The A14 Bionic chip features Neural Engine technology that is capable of processing 11 trillion operations per second.

In practice, this “Smart Data” will work like this: if you are doing something on the smartphone that does not need a robust data connection, the mode will use LTE; if you need it, it automatically identifies and switches to 5G.
Now talking about photos and videos, the iPhone 12 brings a dual camera system: a lens wide angle (wide) and one ultra angle (ultrawide), both from 12 SM with opening of f / 1.6 (the largest aperture on an iPhone today). In addition, the device has a notch which houses the front camera (also 12MP, with f/2.2 aperture) and Face ID technology.
Compared to the iPhone 11, Apple said the lenses allow for more open images, thanks to the new, larger field of view. According to the Apple , the combination of lens technologies and the new processor optimize the quality of photos, with more precise contrast and focus adjustments; and more efficient night mode (which, incidentally, is also available for the front camera).
A differential of the iPhone 12 camera system is that it is the first (on a smartphone) capable of record HDR videos with Dolby Vision technology. The smartphone also offers an end-to-end “Dolby Vision experience”, that is, recording, editing and sharing videos using this cinematic technology.
Another novelty that Apple launched for the new iPhone 12 models was the MagSafe, a system with built-in magnets that accessories of this type. This includes, for example, cases and chargers (wired and wireless). In of chargers, Apple also launched the MagSafe Charger and MagSafe Duo Charger, which charges iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously.
In relation to iPhone 12mini, the features are exactly the same as the iPhone 12. The only difference between the two is the mini's screen size, which is 5,4 inches. Compared to the iPhone 11 Pro line, Apple's new high-ends bring larger screens: the iPhone 12 Pro has a 6,1-inch screen and the iPhone 12 Pro Max comes with a 6,7-inch display ( the largest that Apple has ever released on a smartphone).

In addition to the size and finish, the main differential of the Pro line compared to the iPhone 12 mini and the “normal” iPhone 12 is in the triple camera system, which features a wide-angle lens, an ultra-angle lens (ultrawide) and a telephoto lens.
The Pro line set also brings a LiDAR sensor, until then only present on the iPad Pro, used for features involving augmented reality. But, according to Apple, it will also be useful for the camera system. This is because the manufacturer reported that the presence of this sensor will ensure more agile focus in low light environments and the use of portrait mode together with night mode.
The triple camera system of the iPhone 12 Pro It has a wide-angle lens, an ultra-angle lens (ultrawide) and a telephoto lens, all 12MP. The wide and ultra-angle lenses bring an aperture of f / 1.6, while the telephoto lens has a 52mm focal length, f/2.0 aperture and up to 4x optical zoom.
No iPhone 12 Pro Max, the system is even more robust. In addition to the f/2.2 aperture and up to 5x optical zoom on the telephoto lens (with a 65mm focal length), the wide-angle camera sensor is larger and the smartphone has a new optical image stabilization (OIS) system.
Another photography-related novelty (and exclusive to the Pro line) is the “ProRAW” developed by Apple , which will be available later this year. According to the company, the idea is that this mode will exploit the computational capabilities of optimizing the images captured by the iPhone (Deep Fusion and Smart HDR, for example) while offering the benefits of the “RAW” format.
This format is mainly used by photographers (professionals and amateurs), because it allows a more complex and advanced editing of the images. Thus, it will be possible to edit details such as sharpness and color enhancement (at the RAW level of precision), which will already be improved by the native features of the Apple . This editing can be done either on the smartphone or on a computer or notebook, with professional editing software.
The new iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max will also be able to record videos in 4K, 60fps e I'm HDR, which is unprecedented in the portfolio of Apple . It will also be possible to record videos in Dolby Vision HDR, as well as editing and sharing videos recorded in this format right from the Photos or iMovie app.
Like the other iPhone 12 models mentioned in this article, the Pro and Pro Max versions have the processor A14 Bionic manufactured by Apple. Another feature that the Pro line shares with the other models is for 5G (sub-6GHz and mmWave networks) and MagSafe accessories.
