Launched this past Tuesday (12), Apple's new line of smartphones followed the trend of recent years, bringing four new iPhone models. We are talking about iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro e iPhone 15 Pro Max. Today we will go into a little more detail about each of these devices by comparing them with their 2022 equivalents: line of iPhone 14. Check out now what each one offers, their differences and evolutions. 24305y

This year Apple brought the same models that we saw last year. In the entry models we have a standard size iPhone and a larger one, as well as in the Pro models. Removing the model mini (which existed on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13) was definitive, and just like last year, we didn't have the smaller-than-standard model this year. Many rumors pointed to the possibility of the iPhone 15 Pro Max being called “Pro Ultra”, which also did not happen. So we really had a continuation of 2022 in relation to the category of each smartphone. See the comparison by model below.

As soon as we lay eyes on a device, the first thing we see is its structure, its design, and this is where we will start. The iPhone 14 maintains a certain similarity to its previous generations, with just a few details making it unique. All four models feature flatter designs with more pronounced edges, and the familiar notch, which debuted on the iPhone X. There are versions with 6,1-inch (iPhone 14) and 6,7-inch (iPhone 14 Plus) OLED screens.

No iPhone 15, although it still presents aesthetic similarities with its predecessors, there is now a different handling sensation, due to the new rounded edges on the front and back edges. Furthermore, it also has a matte finish on rear window, which gives a different appearance to previous models. Aluminum sides and dust and water resistance ratings with IP68 certification, which debuted on the iPhone 14, are also present on the iPhone 15.

Possibly the biggest design change in the iPhone 15 is the presence of Dynamic Island on all models, which was previously exclusive to the Pro models. In other words, you can now enjoy Dynamic Island on any iPhone 15 model, even if you buy the cheapest in the line.

Finally, the most anticipated design (and also technical) change for the iPhone: the arrival of the port USB-C. The traditional Lightning input — found in the brand's smartphones since the iPhone 5 — gave way to the standard used massively in the smartphone industry and even by Apple in its iPads and MacBooks. A iPhone 15's new USB-C port, which was added due to European Union regulations, allows for ing and transferring files and can provide faster transfer speeds compared to older iPhone models. For the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, Apple adopted the protocol USB 2 data transfer via USB-C, which has a maximum speed of 480 Mb/s — the same as the Lightning port, which in practice has no advantage in this aspect.

Until the iPhone 13, both the base models and the Pro models received the same processors, launched together with the smartphones. When the line iPhone 14 was launched, Apple presented a different strategy and launched the new processors only in the Pro models — which means that the iPhone 14 kept the chip A15 Bionic of the iPhone 13, accompanied by storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB.

And as we said that the current lineup is apparently a “continuation” of the previous one, the new model follows a similar two-tier chip distribution approach. O iPhone 15 and 15 iPhone Plus are equipped with the chip A16 Bionic, launched on the 14 iPhone 2022 Pro and Pro Max, maintaining 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB storage options.
Cameras 353z5z
Now let's talk a little about one of the aspects that most attracts the attention of s who intend to buy a new smartphone: the camera. The iPhone 14 received a 12 MP front camera with autofocus, bringing significant improvements to selfies and video calls. Its main set of cameras has a 12 MP main lens (wide) and a 12 MP ultrawide lens.

Already iPhone 15 received an important update: its main sensor is now 48 MP and has the function quad pixel, which allows you to simulate a telephoto lens with 2X zoom — in addition to better image capture. The secondary lens continues to be 12MP, accompanied by the 12 MP front camera, just like the previous model.
In of video recording quality, both models can deliver content in 4K at up to 60 fps and 1080p at up to 240 fps, with HDR and Dolby Vision HDR (up to 60 fps). Cinematic mode is also present in 4K at 30 fps.
Battery 554u5p
Rumors indicated the possibility of seeing larger batteries in the iPhone 15 line, and apparently these rumors did not come true, as the autonomy remained the same. Still, it is possible to expect battery life similar to that of the iPhone 14, which is usually enough for a full day of use for most s, with a power reserve for the next day in some cases. See the numbers announced by Apple:
- iPhone 14 and iPhone 15: up to 20 hours of video playback, 16 hours of streaming video and 80 hours of music playback
- iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 15 Plus: up to 26 hours of video playback, 20 hours of streaming video and 100 hours of music playback

Additionally, the new lineup features a USB-C charging port, a bit of an evolution compared to the iPhone 14 and all previous models. However, charging speeds remain the same as the iPhone 14, meaning wired charging offers up to 20 W, while wireless charging MagSafe reaches 15 W. The new devices also feature wireless recharging through technology Qi2.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max vs. iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max 1xk42
Design and canvas m6m71
Now let's take a look at what has changed from one model to the next. O iPhone 15 Pro presents some changes that stand out in relation to the iPhone 14 Pro, starting with a titanium structure. This new feature makes the new device even more resistant and lighter when compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.

One of the clearest changes on the outside is the replacement of the mute button (or lever) on the side of the iPhone with a new one. action button - Where action-button, in the original term — in iPhone 15 Pro e 15 Pro Max. This new button is highly customizable and can be configured to perform various functions, such as turn on the flashlight, activate Focus mode, run custom shortcuts or simply silence the phone, as the previous button/lever already did. It's important to note that this button is available exclusively on the two Pro models.

Another difference is that the iPhone 15 Pro has narrower bezels around the screen, which makes videos and other content stand out even more. However, the screens of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro are somewhat similar. Both are s OLED measuring 6,1 inches, in addition to having a brightness of up to 1.600 nits and a maximum of 2.000 nits in sunlight, as well as always-on display features and variable refresh rates of up to 120 Hz. The iPhone 15 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max have a 6,7-inch screen with the same characteristics.
O iPhone 15 Pro e 15 Pro Max also received entry USB-C, but here the models are compatible with the USB 3 protocol, which allows data transfer rates of up to 10 Gb/s - more of 20X faster than the Lightning standard. However, it is worth noting that the cable offered with the device is only compatible with the USB 2 protocol, and to take advantage of the full potential of the new port it is necessary to purchase a cable compatible with USB 3 separately.
performance and storage 1f1x3l
O iPhone 14 Pro already stood out with the chip A16 Bionic, but the new chip Pro A17 takes performance to a higher level. This is a significant milestone for spec enthusiasts, as the A17 Pro is Apple's first chip built using a 3 nanometers, an achievement the company claims is a first for smartphones. Furthermore, the new chip also does not have the traditional “Bionic”, being recognized as “Pro”.
Although the A17 Pro still has a U 6-core processor like the A16 Bionic, Apple claims it is up to 10% faster, and its 16-core Neural Engine can run up to twice as fast than its predecessor. The model stores Pro are 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB, while the model Pro Max it has 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

In of graphics processing, the A17 Pro brings Redesigned GPU with 6 cores, as opposed to the 5 of the old A16 Bionic, being up to 20% faster. Other new features are better video quality — there's a new AV1 decoder — and the ability to handle features like HDR video output at 4K/60 frames per second, as well as for hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
This is big news for gamers out there, as Apple claims that the hardware-based of the Pro A17 for technology Ray Tracing, along with optimizations coming in the new line of smartphones, will allow s to play modern games such as Resident evil village e Assassin's Creed Mirage, as exemplified by the company in the announcement of the devices.
Camera 2xzk
The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have a triple camera array consisting of:
- 48MP wide-angle main lens: 24mm, ƒ/1.78 aperture, second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization, seven-element lens, 100% Focus Pixels
- 12 MP ultra-wide: 13 mm, ƒ/2.2 aperture and 120° viewing angle, six-element lens, 100% Focus Pixels
- 2MP 12x telephoto (enabled by main lens quad-pixel sensor): 48mm, ƒ/1.78 aperture, second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization, seven-element lens, 100% Focus Pixels
- 3MP 12x Telephoto: 77mm, ƒ/2.8 aperture, optical image stabilization, six-element lens
When comparing the specifications, the iPhone 15 Pro has the same characteristics as the previous year's models. In the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple took advantage of its larger dimensions and replaced the 3X telephoto lens with a 5X periscopic lens, with the following characteristics:
- 5MP 12x telephoto: 120mm, ƒ/2.8 aperture, 3D optical image stabilization via sensor shift and autofocus, tetraprism design
With this, the optical zoom range goes from 6X to 10X, and the digital zoom goes from 15X to 25X. Another update exclusive to the Pro models is that they can now capture images in different focal lengths (24mm, 28mm and 35mm).

The new Pro model comes with new intelligence for capturing portraits without having to manually activate Portrait mode. Portraits should look even better thanks to new enhancements to Smart HDR for lighting and color. Furthermore, the Photonic engine makes it possible to capture high-quality portraits even in low-light conditions.
An added advantage is the ability to adjust the focus point in a photo after you've taken it, which gives you creative freedom. And for those who plan to use the apple vision pro, an update is on the way that will allow space video recording simultaneously using the main and ultrawide cameras.

Additionally, both Pro models are equipped with software enhancements not found on entry-level devices. We are talking about the new photonic mechanism to improve the quality of night photos and, of course, the presence of the chip Pro A17 which makes all the difference even in making better captures.
Battery 554u5p
Some s who were able to test the models claim that the iPhone 15 Pro demonstrated greater energy efficiency, which can provide longer battery life. However, the nominal capacity of the battery is the same as the iPhone 14 Pro, which includes 23 hours video playback — increased to 29 hours on 15 Pro Max –, 20 hours of streaming video playback and up to 75 hours of audio playback.

There was no increase in the charging speed rating, as both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro maintain a 20W charging capacity, making it possible to reach 50% charge in 30 minutes.
