With the help of Meta and NCMEC, Take It Down blocks images by creating a hash, a unique code that identifies specific content. Through this system, the tool identifies the copy of the image or video of the under 18 years of age and prevents it from being published in the future on social networks.
When forwarding the images that the minor intends to remove from the internet, the hash is shared with the NCMEC and Meta, creating a protection system and blocking videos and images. It is important to highlight that this system is similar to the tool StopNCII, also responsible for blocking photos of adults without consent.
We want to ensure that all children, regardless of language or location, have the opportunity to reclaim their dignity and privacy by removing illegal content from participating platforms.
