Despite the camera module causing strangeness, Xiaomi delivers a high standard complete package to the high-end market with the Mi 11 Ultra

Ultra-powerful cameras, cutting-edge processing, finishing and innovative ideas. That's what the Xiaomi brings with the My 11 Ultra, its new high-end smartphone, made to compete mainly with the Galaxy s21 ultra, from the South Korean competitor Samsung. 626910

Undoubtedly, the curiosity for this model increases a lot when noticing the strange camera module on the back, which certainly has no shame and wants to show what it came for. The at least unexpected design may turn some people off, but I invite you to know not only an excellent smartphone, but one of the best high-end on the market.

Check out the full review below. showmetech sobre or My 11 Ultra.

Design 145g70

xiaomi mi 11 ultra screen
Few edges and infinite screen mark the front of the Mi 11 Ultra.

Taking it out of the box, you can already see that it is a heavy smartphone, even without a case. With 234 grams and a 6,8 inch screen, the My 11 Ultra surprising by size. Fortunately, the feeling when seeing it up close is that of a very well built cell phone, with protection Gorilla Glass Foods on the display's glass, metal on the side trim that surrounds the entire device and white ceramic on the back.

Certainly, the 8,4 mm thickness (almost 1 cm) corroborates the smartphone's robust printing, which in addition to having a very high quality finish, has IP68 certification (which means you can get wet without fear).

The screen is curved on the sides, giving the effect of infinite screen. with the little one notch (notch) dedicated to the front camera located on the far left, it's safe to say that the Xiaomi came close to delivering 100% screen use. holding the My 11 Ultra, it is possible to notice the black edges of the sides even with the curved screen, but honestly, this does not cause any discomfort.

camera module 1k96y

It is expected that people will be surprised by the design of the camera module, much more bouncy than usual and with a huge frame.

But surely you want to read about the elephant in the room, right? Let's get to it: the camera module. I confess that when I took it out of the box, I was startled to see a mini TV on the back of the cell phone. If it wasn't enough to occupy 25% of the rear, it's still around 2mm thick, one of the most bouncy camera modules I've ever seen.

However much the Xiaomi disappoint in the delivery of this type of thin design, it is easier to understand the intention behind knowing that the cameras here directly compete with the quality offered by the S21Ultra, 2021 top-of-the-line model from Samsung.

In addition, a excellent highlight on the camera module is for the small screen located on the side of the flash. It is a 1.1 inch AMOLED screen, made to take selfies with the rear camera (giving you an excellent view).

It also has a similar function to Always on Display (always on screen, in free translation). Just double tap and it will show the time, day of the week and battery percentage, which is a very unexpected interaction with the smartphone, which will intuitively spend more time face down.

And in case you're afraid to look and don't find covers that fit this child, the Xiaomi sends a cape in the box, so you can be carefree.

Few buttons are found on the sides of the Mi 11 Ultra

On the sides, the left is completely smooth, while on the right we have the volume up and down button and the lock button.

Metal finish leaves the Mi 11 Ultra with a super tough smartphone face, which is expected from a high-end smartphone.

At the top, we have an infrared sensor, microphone for noise reduction, a secondary speaker and a seal of the harman / kardon, brand of exceptional sound that equips the speakers here. Underneath is the drawer for the chip, USB-C type connector, microphone and main speaker.

It is available in colors cosmic white (White and Cosmic Black (Black).

Screen and Sound 1c85u

Watch videos, play games or simply browsing the applications is very satisfying, because the screen is beautiful. O My 11 Ultra It has a 6,8-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels, with a density of 515 ppi (pixels per inch, or pixels per inch, in free translation) and more than 16 million colors. 4K videos look spectacular, especially when making them fill the entire screen (using the pinch motion). The brightness also surprised me, as I only had to resort to maximum brightness under the sun.

Watching movies on the mi 11 ultra screen
Enjoying movies and games on the small screen instead of the big screen is not bad at all, and the Mi 11 Ultra's screen comes to prove it.

If that didn't seem like enough, the screen's refresh rate reaches 120Hz, which makes use super fluid and satisfying (it's worth ing that keeping the refresh rate always at maximum is a mortal enemy of battery life). Games are the part where the high update will make the most difference, improving games a lot.

And if you love watching series on your smartphone screen, get ready for complete immersion, even without headphones. The sound signed by harman / kardon does justice and impresses. With the volume at maximum, I felt it was beyond what was necessary for short-distance use on the screen, but the stereo sound makes all the difference.

For listening to music, I say that it does not look bad next to a small auxiliary speaker. Of course, the sound will be less full-bodied than that of an external speaker, but compared to other smartphones, the quality of what we have here is simply impressive.

Cameras 353z5z

mi 11 ultra cameras
Triple camera system is housed inside a robust and certainly bold camera module.

My 11 Ultra comes with a triple rear camera system and a front camera. It is composed of:

  • Standard camera (wide): 50 MP with f/2.0 aperture;
  • telephoto camera: 48 MP with f/4.1 aperture;
  • Ultra wide camera: 48 MP with f/2.2 aperture, 128º field of view;
  • Frontal camera: 20 MP with f/2.2 aperture.

that saying about not judging people by appearances? So it is. The set of cameras offered by Xiaomi It is without a doubt, out of the box.

Below, I bring three photos of the same figure with the camera Ultra-wide (0.5x), standard (1x) and 5x zoom.

The field of view offered by the wide-angle (Ultra-wide) it is excellent. With pure numbers, that's twice the field of view offered by the standard camera. With the default, curiously the focus was concentrated in the central region of the image, leaving the face of the figure, for example, a little out of focus (even though I wasn't that close).

The 5x zoom impressed me very positively, as I tend to struggle with zooms where it is easy to notice the drop in image quality. Not only is the quality high, but the richness of detail fascinated me as well (and made me realize that it's time to wipe the figure).

Fortunately, in all cases, the image quality was very high and very surprising. On the other hand, the macro function is not as interesting as the rest of the set. At the My 11 Ultra there is no single camera exclusive to macro, so what we have is the use of wide-angle emulating the macro effect. Although you can get very close to objects, it seems to me more advantageous to use the normal camera and crop the image later.

Macro camera.

But of course you want to see the 120x zoom at work, right? — as if the 100x of S21Ultra were not enough. Below, I bring 5 photos of the same tree (already affected by the winter in the city of São Paulo) using 0.5x, 1x, 5x, 30x and finally, 120x.

Zoom tests always show how much the camera set can deliver. In many cases, a little bit of zooming starts to throw the image quality down, but what we have here is an extremely powerful tool, to say the least.

The post processing of Xiaomi it's very advanced, which also surprised me a lot. I expected that after 5x, the definition would start to drop so that it wouldn't be worth using such high magnifications. However, up to 30x, I found the image quality to be excellent. We already notice quality losses, but the gain in the approach makes this go almost unnoticed.

Of course, from 5x onwards it becomes very difficult to focus on anything, as very small movements already make you lose focus on something. That said, the 120x zoom can only really be used if you take photos with a tripod. It's very difficult to stay stabilized to use it and the quality drops too much. Of course, depending on how far away the information you want to reach is, if you have the necessary stability, it will deliver you a respectable result, see the quality it has.

It is worth ing that such a strong zoom, even sacrificing quality, is something to be ired, as it also shows the quality of the hardware smartphone — we'll get to that part soon. Now for the selfies from day to day, the My 11 Ultra is ready to make every selfie look very high quality. The 20 MP front camera delivers great definition to selfies, especially if you to use the light to your advantage.

Selfies with rear camera qualities? The Mi 11 Ultra has and is excellent.

But honestly? I'm afraid the front camera will be underused compared to the rear. That's thanks to the secondary screen, as you can use it in photos too!

It's amazing to see a smartphone that brings a different idea and manages to execute it with such mastery. The secondary display faithfully reproduces the colors of the image and is very easy to get used to. The feature even re the front screen for viewing the latest GoPro.

And that's why I bet you'll use the rear camera a lot more than the front camera to Selfie. How about taking selfies with a 50 MP camera? Below is a photo taken with the rear camera's portrait mode.

The possibilities for selfies are very large with the Mi 11 Ultra.

Finally, in relation to recordings, the set of My 11 Ultra is undoubtedly exceptional. You can even record in 8K at 24 FPS, but the best part is recording in 4K at 60 FPS. For both photo and video modes, you can use the professional mode, which gives you fine control over all aspects of recording, ideal for those who understand photography more in depth.

Performance 58a2u

O My 11 Ultra comes with the chipset Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm's latest high-end processor, Adreno 660 GPU, 12GB RAM, 256 or 512GB storage, the latest Android version, Android 11, plus, of course, 5G.

In practice, the Xiaomi offers one of the most powerful packages on the market. It is correct to look at this smartphone as a true pocket computer — as is expected of models considered high-end.

Playing on xiaomi mi 11 ultra
Genshin Impact, one of the most popular games today, runs at most with occasional and infrequent problems on the Mi 11 Ultra.

In our tests, I tried to push the smartphone to the max, keeping numerous apps open, brightness and sound maxed out, with heavy games open. The experience surprised me, especially when playing Genshin impact, a pretty heavy game, especially when using the max settings. Except for specific moments when there was too much information on the screen, I didn't have any significant performance drop problems, even playing with the graphics maxed out.

Another very strong point that plays in favor of the performance of the My 11 Ultra is your temperature. In my experience, I only felt it heat up a lot when playing with the graphics at maximum, especially in the region of the cameras - certainly, the use of a case should dissipate the heat and the feeling should be that it doesn't get too hot.

In the other activities, I didn't feel it getting hot, I was even surprised to realize that, after more than half an hour watching videos with high sound and brightness, I still felt it cold in my hands.

The presence of 5G for us Brazilians is still not so relevant, since in few cities it is possible to use 5G DSS — a version of 5G that still does not represent the full capacity of the technology — but it is certainly a detail today that in the near future will make a big difference in smartphone speed.

Digital and Facial Recognition 692e53

O My 11 Ultra It has two ways to unlock it. The use of digital is straight on the screen at a certain point (very easy to get used to). When touching the point even without turning on the screen, the reading will be done by lighting a white LED that is only activated at that moment. Unlocking is pretty quick, which is very satisfying. It takes less than 1 second between tapping and unlocking happening.

Facial recognition is also agile, but as usual, after reading it, you have to swipe up. However, forget about the function if you are in a dark place (like your bedroom). Facial recognition only works in this case with the smartphone's brightness set to maximum — and if there's one thing you don't want to do when you pick up your cell phone at dawn or when you wake up, and illuminate your face with the brightness at maximum, right?

For those moments, opt for digital recognition which will be much more efficient.

Battery 554u5p

A Xiaomi equip the My 11 Ultra with 5.000 mAh battery. This number is not quite a differential, but it is certainly honest.

In our tests, moderate usage — watching videos or playing games games for short periods, always checking notifications, browsing the internet and apps — it delivers a full day and a little battery for the next day. Probably in the early afternoon of the second day you will already feel the need to put it to charge.

However, heavy use — watching series or playing games games for long periods with high brightness, as well as browsing the internet and apps — delivers a full day's battery life. On weekdays when I sleep early, the battery still had about 15% near midnight. On the weekend, going to bed at dawn, I had to put it on charge around XNUMX:XNUMX in the morning.

Anyway, I can assure you that letting you down is not in the plans of the My 11 Ultra. Fortunately, it comes with a USB-C cable and a power supply for fast charging (one of the few high-end smartphones that the importance of bringing the charger inside the box).

Conclusion 60664y

The effort of the Xiaomi in building a smartphone with virtually no defects. The feeling is that each part was contemplated in the best way they could.

I say that it would be more pleasant if the camera module were neither so big nor so thick, but if that was the price for having cameras so powerful that they match the quality of the Galaxy s21 ultra and even a secondary screen for the selfies, I believe it is a fair price to pay.

If there is any really serious defect, it is the fact that the My 11 Ultra not yet available in Brazil. At the moment, the only way to acquire it is to import the global version (which comes with a charger).

If you are not interested in importing it, at least it is worth keeping an eye out for when it finally arrives in Brazil, as this is, without a doubt, one of the best high-end smartphones today.
