They say the first impression is the last impression, right? And here, we claim that the Edge 40 does not disappoint. Launched in Brazil in three colors, the showmetech received the black variant, but the green and magenta colors (a shade of dark red) are also quite nice.

In addition to the rounded edges that facilitate day-to-day use, the leather back finish also allows for a very assertive use. Particularly, I really like cell phones with a large screen because I am a person who not only spends a lot of time on social networks, but also at night, likes to watch some content before going to sleep.

O Motorola Edge 40 it has only three buttons: two for volume and one for turning the screen on and off. They are all on the right side. There is a fingerprint sensor under the screen and, as is standard with current smartphones, no headphone jack.

I was a little disappointed that Motorola didn't ship an adapter in the box with the device, which forces the customer to make this separate purchase. It's not an absurd investment, but if you buy a model that has a suggested price of more than R$ 3 thousand, this could be put in the box.

In its visual part, the Motorola Edge 40 manages to deliver a great first impression. The USB-C connection can be used for charging, screen mirroring, and also for audio. I was quite impressed with the screen of the Motorola Edge 40, not just because of the fact that she's big the way I like it, but also because of her great image. This is due to the FHD + resolution (2400 x 1080) that can be used well not only when using social networks, but also on YouTube and Netflix. Unfortunately, it is not perfect and s fingerprints.

Outdoor use was quite assertive and I was able to see the information even in shadowless environments. I really like using apps in dark mode, which gives the screen the possibility of becoming a true mirror. But the P-OLED type did its good job here and managed to deliver a good experience.

It is clear that the screen will be able to display high quality images and videos indoors, but when there is more natural light, it can also do well. Peak brightness was a big hit here and of course the type helps a lot with that. O Motorola Edge 40 it has an ambient light sensor that works very well and changes the brightness automatically, so you have a great visual experience, no matter where you are.

Next to the cameras, this is the great success of the Motorola Edge 40. Its battery can last for a good part of the day and, in the case of some s, it may even last longer. During the days I had the device, it took a while to actually reach the end of the battery and I had to spend more time than I should on social networks. But all for science, right?

I managed to achieve a screen time of 8h32 for an entire day, picking up the smartphone at 09am and plugging it in at 02am the next morning.

It is worth ing that in the box, there is a charger with a 68W source that managed to recharge the battery in 47 minutes. Motorola fulfilled the promise of delivering 50% of the capacity in just 15 minutes, without the duration being so low. The capacity of this component is 4440 mAh. It doesn't seem to be much, but the processor chosen by the company manages to manage energy well so that the smartphone works for as long as possible.

The handset also s 15W wireless charging, while wired charging is 68W, the same capacity as the charger shipped in the box. Here, we don't have the possibility to perform reverse loading, which would be interesting. Who knows in the next generation.

It is quite common for smartphones to have a processor from Qualcomm, but Motorola closed a partnership with Mediatek for the launch of Edge 40. Here, we have the Mediatek Dimensity 8020 6 nanometer octa-core processor (4×2.6 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) was chosen. The video recording, done in a maximum resolution of 4K at 30 frames per second and in 1080p 30/120fps, is done well and I was able to record videos for Instagram Stories without any errors. I really liked the stabilization, but I would like to record videos with portrait mode turned on. Video zoom doesn't work around here either, but who knows that could be fixed with a software update.

The background-highlighted selfies, as expected, also performed better when I was outdoors than in places with low natural lighting. However… I realized that there are still some adjustments missing in the detection of objects around the face, because when trying to take a picture with a headset, this was “erased” by the camera. It's not a big deal, but photos with accessories can get a little weird.

The camera itself manages to do a good job, but the Motorola still need to make some improvements to make it perfect. It will certainly meet the needs of most Brazilians. But when put to go further, the points of improvement are very clear.

With the largest aperture of the entire Edge lineup (f/1.4), the Edge's 50 MP main camera Motorola Edge 40 manages to do a very assertive job in everything that is put to do. I recommend using it for everything: portrait mode, video recording, and capturing content at night or indoors.

As expected, we get better video results with the cameras on the back of the Motorola Edge 40. It is possible to have great quality videos (4K at 30 frames per second, 1080 at 30/60/120 frames per second and at 720 to 960 frames per second) and there is for HDR10.

We can also record content in slow motion at 240 frames per second (or 120 frames per second, if you prefer). And the zoom in this case can be used up to 2x. In normal photos and videos, the camera zoom increases up to 8x, but I recommend that you do not exceed 5x so that nothing is too pixelated and there is no loss of quality.

In general, I liked the camera a lot. Motorola Edge 40 and it should get even better with updates coming in as the months go by. The company managed to deliver a set that talks well with each other and still improve results through artificial intelligence. The portrait mode, like that of the front lenses, needs to be improved, but it also does its first job masterfully.

Speaking about personal taste, I highlight the high battery life and fast charging as the best point of this smartphone Android. If you need a cell phone with good cameras, good processor and storage, it is certainly a model that you should consider in your list of purchase options.

Its camera results are expected to get even better with future updates, and I honestly can't wait for what comes next.
