A Netflix, world's leading Internet TV service, confirmed that he will make a new original series about corruption in Brazil, inspired by the Operation Lava Jet, from the Federal Police.

The series that will begin to be filmed later this year, will have the direction of José Padilha (Elite Squad, Narcos and Robocop) and will be written by Elena Soares (Xingu, Children of Carnival e Sand House).

This will be the second series entirely produced in Brazil, after sci-fi thriller post-apocalyptic 3%, which will be released by the end of 2016.

According to Padilha, “This project will narrate the police operation itself and show details about the biggest corruption scheme ever seen in Brazil. It was critical that the series be produced impartially, and Netflix is certainly the best partner to make that happen.”.

Netflix, on the other hand, recognizes the director's talent for transforming the still-evolving current events into compelling narratives, as he sought to do in his films and documentaries, and "he is well positioned to document this important moment in Brazil's history“, says Erik Barmack, vice president of International Originals at Netflix.

House of cards vs. corruption in brazil

The new series does not yet have a name, however filming is already starting this year, and by its content, it should have at least 10 seasons. And we already want her to have one Crossovers with the renowned series House of Cards, also from Netflix, that narrates the rise of the political Frank Underwood to the presidency of the United States.

I'm just afraid that House of Cards seems like a child's story in the face of this new series to come...
