A small group of s Netflix, and on India, is testing a new subscription model that will cost just a few dollars a month, revealed Economic Times. Testing is part of the service's strategy streaming to expand its base in the country. It allows subscribers to pay just 250 rupees, or $3,62, to access the site from their mobile devices. 441o2f
This subscription model only allows for standard definition content and streaming to one screen, i.e. a single cell phone or tablets, and costs about half of the regular plans.
“We will be testing different options in select countries where s can watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter periods of time.”

Although the company is the service of streaming more expensive from India, the CEO Reed Hastings said last year that the company was not facing problems with its pricing. Recently, the Netflix opened an office in Mumbai, and so far has produced 24 original titles in local languages.
“It's about the cost of a movie ticket. We would like consumers to compare this to what they pay for cable TV.”

While the mobile test news has aroused interest among US s, the plan, even if implemented in India, is unlikely to reach the US (and elsewhere) for the time being.
“We are just getting started in India. Let's try other pricing models and see how it works in of being able to accelerate our growth and get more hits. But even in the existing model, we feel we have a long way to go in India.”

A Netflix emphasized, however, that “it may never be possible to implement these specific plans beyond testing”.
