What's New in Samsung's Flexible Displays 6v3362
The new screens of Samsung will be shown during Display Week 2021, which started on Sunday, May 16th, and runs until the 21st, next Sunday. In total, the South Korean company will showcase four new flexible screen concepts during the event:
- A screen that folds into a Z shape;
- A rollable canvas;
- A 17-inch folding screen;
- a camera that is under the screens for notebooks.

The screen that folds in Z, when not folded, will be 7.2 inches, a huge size for a cell phone. But since it can be folded twice, the size can be downsized to something more conventional. On the left side of the screen, when not folded, the cameras and a small area to hold the cell phone are apparent.

The roll-up display is very similar to a concept introduced by LG some time ago, but which will not become a product due to the company's exit from the smartphone market. The screen opens from right to left, and may present more system information to the depending on how visible the screen is.

A novelty is the large 17-inch screen, which could be setting the stage for an eventual Galaxy Tab with flexible screen, getting a 4:3 aspect ratio when fully open.

And finally, Samsung will also show off its camera technology under the screens, which will allow notebooks to no longer have those little holes for the cameras to show through, allowing for infinite screens on the devices as well.
It is good to note that these screens, although they are new to Samsung, have already been shown by other companies. The rollable screen is already present in the LG, before it announced its departure from the smartphone market.
The 17-inch foldable screen, while being the first this large to be shown, bears similarities to the as is the case with Xiaomi.
