This year's edition is packed with competent nominees, and the crowd was sure to split to root for their favorites. Here in the showmetech, we launched reviews on some of the main features of the 2023 Oscars — such as 'TAR'. Today, we're going to go through all 23 categories and pinpoint the likely winner of each one. Check it out below and do well in the pool with friends.

Best Visual Effects 4q2g1k

Featured:

Who should win: This is a category the Academy loves to award for films whose special effects are as practical as possible. See how it is common for a war movie or a space movie to take this statuette instead of a superhero feature, supercharged with edits. This year, the likely winner would be 'Nothing New on the Front', followed by 'Top Gun: Maverick' in the competition. But, especially at the Oscars 2023, there is no direct competition: 'Avatar: The Way of Water' by James Cameron should take it lightly. Perhaps this is the film's only victory in this edition.

Best Editing and Editing 612h6v

Featured:

Who should win: Here, there are two movies that are probably splitting the most Academy votes. Although 'Top Gun: Maverick' demonstrates his mastery of the most realistic cuts and well-aimed montage, 'Everything Everywhere at the Same Time' is too big. Anyone who has watched it must ask themselves by now: “how did they manage to edit all of this?”. It may be this ambitious and very talented factor that determines your victory.

Best sound 6u6h6u

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Avatar: The Way of Water
  • Batman
  • Elvis
  • Top Gun: Maverick

Who should win: Unlike the visual effects category, in this sound category the second Avatar movie must take a step back. The fight is between Netflix's war movie and Paramount's nostalgic movie. Considering the previous winners, we believe that, close to 'Nothing New on the Front' should end up conquering this category precisely for its grandeur in the details, from the small steps in the mud to the cannon shot.

Best Costume Design 1ax38

Featured:

  • Babylon
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
  • Elvis
  • Everything Everywhere at the Same Time
  • Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris

Who should win: Incredibly, this category is not fully defined. On the one hand, we have the historic appeal of 'Elvis,' with the rock star's flamboyant looks shimmering across the screen. On the other, we see 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' representing the fashion of the people of Wakanda with strength and beauty. It is possible that the prize will go both ways. Because your predecessor took the same statuette, we're going to bet on 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'. But stay alert for your direct competitor.

Best Hair and Makeup 724q64

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Batman
  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
  • Elvis
  • The whale

Who should win: The most obvious choice here is Darren Aronofsky's 'The Whale', right? Not exactly. Brendan Fraser underwent a major makeover by the hair and makeup team to embody Professor Charlie. However, the biggest highlight of the film is just his character. The others have more common looks. Because of this, the massive work of reconstructing hairstyles and make-up between the 40s and 70s in 'Elvis' may get the better of you here.

Best Photography o14h

All Quiet on the Western Front delivers not only technique, but an excellent narrative. (Image: Netflix/Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Bardo, False Chronicle of Some Truths
  • Elvis
  • Empire of Light
  • TAR

Who should win: Despite having names in evidence, such as Roger Deakins in 'Empire of Light', which has already won several Oscars, 'Nothing New on the Front' should enter as a highlight for its high technical aspect.

Best Production Design 6p226k

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Avatar: The Way of Water
  • Babylon
  • Elvis
  • The Fabelmans

Who should win: 'Elvis' might win this category, but 'Babylon' is being a much discussed name in it as well. Let's bet on this second one, that perhaps it will marry victory with Soundtrack.

Best Original Song 4w4d6j

Featured:

  • “Applause”, Sofia Carson – Tell it Like a Woman
  • “Hold My Hand”, Lady Gaga – Top Gun: Maverick
  • “Lift Me Up”, Rihanna – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After
  • “Naatuu Naatu”, MM Keeravaan – RRR
  • “This is a Life”, David Byrne, Mitsky – Everything and Everywhere at the Same Time

Who should win: If you're hoping your favorite pop diva — Lady Gaga or Rihanna — will take this category, you'd better be prepared. Victory is almost certainNaatu Naatu', which has already become a RRR classic – Revolt, Revolution, Rebellion, an Indian film that won song prizes at other major awards.

Best Soundtrack 2b625i

Babylon enters our 2023 Oscar pool. (Image: Paramount Pictures/Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Babylon
  • Inisherin's Banshees
  • Everything Everywhere at the Same Time
  • The Fabelmans

Who should win: If 'Babylon' not win, it will be shocking. You can bet without fear. In this category, the film took all the other main circuit awards.

Best Animated Short Film 2z4w6d

Featured:

  • The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse
  • The Flying Sailor
  • Ice Merchants
  • My Year of Dicks
  • An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake, and I Think I Believe It

Who should win: 'The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse' is the likely winner among animated shorts. In addition to the cute and successful message, the film is released by Apple TV +, the only streaming available in this case.

Best Live-Action Short Films 3f4n37

Featured:

  • An Irish Goodbye
  • ivalue
  • The Pupils
  • Night ride
  • The Red Suitcase

Who should win: Several themes were worked on in the short films indicated. One of them has been getting the most curious eyes: 'An Irish Goodbye'.

Best Short Documentary 4e3h12

Featured:

  • How to Take Care of a Baby Elephant
  • haulout
  • How Do You Measure a Year?
  • The Martha Mitchell Effect
  • Stranger at the Gate

Who should win: Even with the massive release of 'Nothing New on the Front', Netflix wastes no time investing in smaller categories as well. The likely situation here is that your short'How to Take Care of a Baby Elephant', which, while addressing animal preservation, tells an exciting story.

Best Documentary in Feature Film 3e348

Featured:

  • All That Breathes
  • All the Beauty and the Bloodshed
  • Volcanoes: The Tragedy of Katia and Maurice Krafft
  • A House Made of Splinters
  • Navalny

Who should win: Due to the massive dissemination and technical quality of the content, 'Navalny', which accompanies a political activist and opponent of Putin, should deservedly win.

Best Animated Film 2a5y4j

Featured:

  • Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro
  • Puss in Boots 2: The Last Order
  • Marcel the Shell With Shoes On
  • the beast of the sea
  • Red: Growing up is a Beast

Who should win: If you've been following this year's QXNUMX awards streak, you know that, at this point, 'Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro' is just waiting for your call on the event. Any other victory would be a surprise.

Best International Film 432a

Netflix has a good name to compete for the Oscars this year. (Image: Netflix/Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front ()
  • Argentina, 1985 (Argentina)
  • Close (Belgium)
  • Eo (Poland)
  • The Quiet Girl (Ireland)

Who should win: The rule is clear: if the hot international film of the moment is nominated for Best Picture, it will take its niche category. Therefore, 'Nothing New on the Front'.

Best Adapted Screenplay 4l4ff

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
  • Living
  • Top Gun: Maverick
  • Among Women

Who should win: With a case similar to the previous category, 'Among Women' must win this category to justify its presence in Best Picture. 'Top Gun: Maverick' is also in, but Sarah Polley's film campaign is steadier and more dedicated.

Best Original Screenplay 6h1s1y

Buckle up, because this is a literally crazy journey. (Image: Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Inisherin's Banshees
  • Everything Everywhere at the Same Time
  • The Fabelmans
  • TAR
  • Triangle of Sadness

Who should win: Despite the strong names, 'Everything Everywhere at the Same Time' seems to be the favorite at this point. The reason is in the more than two hours of madness that conquered the public. However, this is perhaps also the only chance for 'The Banshees of inisherin' to win something.

Best ing Actress 1t713n

“Angela Bassett did the thing”. (Image: Disney/Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Angela Basset (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever After)
  • Hong Chau (The Whale)
  • Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin)
  • Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere at Once)
  • Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere at Once)

Who should win: This category has gone up and down several times. Angela Bassett started very strong, but lost the last awards (SAG Awards and BAFTA). However, we still believe that she should be awarded by the Academy. It would be the first acting win in a Marvel film.

Best ing Actor 2x4s38

'Everything Everywhere All At Once' is one of the most genius films of recent times. (Image: Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin)
  • Brian Tyree Henry (age)
  • Judd Hirsch (The Fabelmans)
  • Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin)
  • Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere at the Same Time)

Who should win: The cutest actor of the season should take this category this year. Even though Brendan Fraser is a sweetheart, we're talking about We Huy Quan, whose presence in your film was great and very remarkable.

Best actress 5w1z7

Review: Tár elevates cate blanchett to the nth power in a plot about power
'TÁR''s biggest chance at the Oscars is in Best Actress. (Image: Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Kate Blanchett (Tar)
  • Ana de Armas (Blonde)
  • Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie)
  • Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans)
  • Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere at Once)

Who should win: Two titans of acting are in the running directly: Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh. Michelle, in particular, has grown a lot in recent days in disclosure. Cate already accumulates a sequence of important victories to reach the Oscar. They could award both, but unfortunately that will not happen. Because of the Academy's traditional choices, we still think that Cate Blanchett will pick up his third Oscar. But it would be lovely to see Michelle win too.

Best Actor 4c3n40

Featured:

  • Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin)
  • Austin Butler (Elvis)
  • Brendan Fraser (The Whale)
  • Bill Nighy (Living)
  • Paul Mescal (Aftersun)

Who should win: The situation here is similar to the Best Actress category. However, we believe that Brendan Fraser has a few more houses to his credit than Austin Butler in this race. You never know what the Academy will actually do, but here's our bet anyway.

Best Director 6es2

Featured:

  • Martin McDonagh (The Banshees of Inisherin)
  • Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (Everything Everywhere at Once)
  • Steven Spielberg (The Fabelmans)
  • Todd Field (Tar)
  • Ruben Östlund (Triangle of Sadness)

Who should win: This is one of the categories that is most likely to really surprise. The Academy can opt for the absurd creativity of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert when creating their version of the multiverse. She can also go through her traditional stream and recognize Steven Spielberg for the fine work on 'Os Fabelmans'. Our final suggestion is this second name (but it's hard to fully predict!).

Best movie 68194r

Oscar 2023 syndicate: Everything, Everywhere at the Same as a possible winner. (Image: A24/Diamond Filmes/Disclosure)

Featured:

  • Nothing New on the Front
  • Avatar: The Way of Water
  • Inisherin's Banshees
  • Elvis
  • Everything Everywhere at the Same Time
  • The Fabelmans
  • tar
  • Top Gun: Maverick
  • Triangle of Sadness
  • Among Women

Who should win: Out of all 10 nominees, we see three films with more strength. The first of these is 'Everything Everywhere at the Same Time'. The film has really been noticed at all the recent award shows and should do well at the Oscars. Awarding him as the best of the night would recognize creativity in action. The second option, the quietest so far, is 'Nothing New on the Front'. It would be the second international film to win Best Picture after 'Parasite'. Despite being another war movie, it could surprise everyone.

The last card would be to reward the ion for making cinema, portrayed in 'Os Fabelmans'. The other nominees have very low chances. Any choice apart would be very unexpected. But, after all, that's Oscar, and Oscar likes to cause a stir.
