After the success of Pokémon GO, we now have Peridot, Niantic's AR Tamagotchi. See how the game works!

A Niantic even better known after the boom that Pokémon GO caused worldwide. Bringing the animals to the screen and giving them the opportunity to capture them as in the game/drawing left many players impressed. Exactly because of the game's success, the company is investing in another similar title: Peridot. Tamagotchi with AR by Niantic is now available for , check it out! n4j1l

Another Niantic game! 591g5v

Just like the famous toy Tamagotchi from the 90s, Peridot is a pet simulator, but this time with an improvement brought by current technology, and in this case, the game takes place entirely within AR — augmented reality. You can feed, play with, walk, breed, forage and socialize with your Peridots, but don't worry: if you pause the game, your creatures won't poop on your screen and/or die as was common in Tamagotchi days.

Peridot is Niantic's only original game since Ingress, its first game, which was released ten years ago. The company, which seeks to develop games in the “real world metaverse” style, has tried to replicate the success of Pokémon GO by making games for franchises such as Harry Potter, Pikmin e NBA, including your games Marvel e Monster Hunter should also be released this year.

But unfortunately the formula seems to have worked only with Pokémon, so far. Niantic shut down its Harry Potter game and, after a round of layoffs, canceled four projects, including a Harry Potter game. Transformers. Peridot might not have a built-in fanbase, but by doing something a little more different, Niantic has a chance to succeed again.

Understanding the proposal 3s4l5z

When you start the game, you choose between three pet eggs to hatch, in the greatest starter Pokémon style. From there your new pet gets a name and you can start collecting experience points feeding it, teaching it tricks, taking rides to real-world destinations, and completing daily tasks. When your baby Peridot grows into a teenager, it acquires a personality trait, and when it becomes an adult, it can start breeding with adult Peridots from other players.

The game's replay system is perhaps the feature that most catches the attention of players. are about 23 sextillion possible combinations of Peridots, represented by the number 23.000.000.000.000.000.000.000.000 — that's 23 zeros! The company helps to contextualize this figure by describing it as approximately the number of all the grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth — that is, there will be no shortage of pets to collect!

Breeding or breeding in Peridot requires payment, which limits the experience for players who don't intend to spend on the game. Image: TechCrunch

And as much as it is a strong point to stoke the players' curiosity in knowing how to make the next combination, reproduction is blocked by payment. Yes, for each pet you breed, you need to use an item called a "Nest Basket", which costs US$ 5, something around of R$25 in current direct conversion.

But for s who don't want to pay to play, it makes the game quite limiting, as there is not much you can do with a single pet, especially after it reaches adulthood. And as if it wasn't enough to spend in-game to have a little more fun, Niantic is even collaborating with Amazon to have an in-game Peridot merchandise store.

Configure well before playing 1g3520

In relation to AR specs it is necessary to take a good look at the game to configure it so that it works in the best possible way. For example, if you're sitting in your living room with the floor clearly visible, your Peridot can identify where walls and furniture are and avoid them, making the game more realistic.

Will you also be able to do funny tricks to fool the terrain recognition system? Image: Google Play Store

But if you're lying in bed at an angle where it's not quite clear where the floor is, your Peridot will slide across the pillows as if they weren't even there. However, sometimes the game's ability to assess the environment can impress some players. At launch, Peridots already have the ability to recognize and interact with humans and animals.

Even though the pet can recognize animals from the real world, some players have reported some rather funny bugs at these times. Sometimes your Peridot may want to play in the grass, sand or water, and the game uses artificial intelligence to identify which terrain is in view. If you're not near water, some beta testers have found that you can simply show your pet a bottle of blue mouthwash or a picture of water to trick the game.

With this new game, Niantic hopes to find success again with its own IP. Image: Google Play Store

Other players use some personal resources to try trick artificial intelligence, such as using a forest tapestry, which the game identifies as a grassy habitat — sometimes a houseplant can work too. It's reminiscent of the early days of Pokémon GO, when some players would stuff their phones in a bag or even strap them to a ceiling fan to simulate walking.

After years of work, the game is finally available for iPhone (iOS) e Android, but keep in mind that this game will only perform well or better on a more powerful device capable of ing the engine from the game of Augmented Reality. Will even charging US$ 5 to make the crossings the game will be a success, betting on nostalgia by resembling a Tamagotchi?
