A Sony launched the PlayStation 5 six months ago here in Brazil, on the 19th of November. A week before him we had the duo competing from Microsoft: Xbox Series X e S series. Since then, we have had record sales, sold out stocks, the arrival of some games (others that were postponed), system updates and thousands of eyes focused on the new generation of consoles. Explaining everything that has happened in the last few months, we have compiled a comparison between PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for you to decide which one got the best in the first stage of this battle that is just beginning. 5b1k31
Specifications and proposals 163u10
Comparing PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, we decided to start with Microsoft's slightly more complex duo. By the way, nothing less than four consoles in total: Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and the disc-driver and disc-driver versions of the PS5. Therefore, to facilitate explanation and availability throughout the text, we will use “Xbox Series X” as a synonym for both, in the same way that we will not treat both versions of PlayStation 5 individually (version with and without disc player).
With this caveat, it is necessary to break down the specifications of each one before we summarize the Series as a single “side” in this clash of consoles. For those who prefer details of the two Xbox, we explain in a dedicated publication.

O Xbox Series X count with:
- 1 TB of NVME M.2 SSD storage
- Zen 2 U, up to 3.8 GHz with eight cores (variable)
- AMD RDNA 2 GPU, 12 TFLOPs, 52 CUs up to 1,825 GHz (variable)
- 16GB GDDR6 RAM
- Runs games in 4K and videos up to 8K, with 120FPS
- Has a disc player

O Xbox series s brings:
- 512GB NVME M.2 SSD storage
- 8X Core U @ 3.6 GHz (3.4 GHz w/SMT) Custom Zen 2 U
- 4 TFLOPS GPU, 20 CUs @1.565 GHz
- 10GB GDDR6 RAM
- Possibility to run games in 1440p resolution at up to 120FPS
- It doesn't have a disc player (and it's thinner!)
In summary of this rain of letters and numbers, the Series X is made for the gamer who wants the top of the line of the current generation and the Series S works more for those who will prioritize physical media, ing a few games at a time (yes, in 512 GB fits little), without requiring extreme 4K at 120 frames. Reinforcing the difference in top/entry between the Series, the two arrived here in Brazil with reduced price de R$4.599 e R$2.799respectively.

To expand the memory of both, there is the external SSD of the Seagate (which resembles a memory card of the classic PS2) of 1 TB. Unfortunately, in Brazil it costs more than R $ 2 thousand, something surreal and quite unfeasible for those who bought the Series S and just want more memory. For Series X owners, having twice the space may be worth more, thinking that the card costs half the value of the console.
Series X/S brings great function for undecided gamers. As Quick resume you have the, literally translated, “quick summary” of a game. With a limitation of titles that varies in hardware, it is possible to leave about 5 suspended games and quickly switch between them, without having to go through the start screen or do the loading whenever you want to play. You pick up that exciting story right where you left off, even when you prefer to take a break and move on to a more casual game.

Finally, it is worth commenting on the design choice of the two consoles from Microsoft. While they can be placed either on the vertical and in horizontal, the Xbox logo suggests that the X stands upright and the S horizontally. Following these guidelines, the Series X black box is 15 x 15 cm wide/deep and an absurd 30 cm high. More discreet, the very white Series S is 6.5 cm high, 15 cm deep and 27.5 cm wide. The green detail on the grille of the larger model serves as a positive point for the design of the imposing console.
On the opposite side of the ring is the PS5, equipped with:
- Ryzen Zen 2 U (up to 3.5 GHz octa-core, with 16 threads)
- AMD RDNA 2 GPU 10.28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs up to 2.23GHz (Variable Frequency)
- 16GB shared GDDR6 RAM
- 825GB SSD (5.5GB per second)
- Runs games in 4K and videos up to 8K
- Rate up to 120 frames per second (less than 4K)

From the factory, the PS5 has great internal space for you to store whatever you want in both versions. also with price adjustment, the two editions of the PS5 arrived by R$4.699 (with disc player) and R$4.199 (digital edition). The massive console lets you play games in 4K at 60 frames per second, with a sacrifice of resolution in exchange for frames for those who want 120FPS gameplay at 1440p.
Again, the only difference between the two editions is that the “digital edition” does not have a disc player. Unlike the limited external memory of the Seagate that the Xbox brings, the PS5 had a update in april protocols for drive USB, allowing external storage of the brand you prefer. On the back of it we see two USB-A ports super speed (10 Gbps) and on the front we have discrete USB-A Hi-Speed and a USB-C super speed (10Gbps).

There is only one color option on the Sony console, as on the PS5 we see the white plastic with black accents and blue lighting. The console's design certainly betrays the futuristic air, but there's no denying that the colossal size surprised many people who saw it up close for the first time. They are 39 cm high, 26 cm deep and 10,4 cm wide. The versatile base allows you to leave it horizontal or vertical, but the curved shape and the air vents “ask” you to install the new generation console standing up.
Sony's choice to make a similar duo, except for the 500 reais disc player, caught the attention of those who thought of acquiring the new generation console for the use that best matched their own profile. It has no basic specifications and no “entry” value, which qualifies it as a product aimed at gamers who know that the investment is definitive, promising to pay off in the short and long term.
Launch Day Games (Multi-Platform) 3y1y3n

A dozen titles arrived alongside the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. As it was released on the 10th, Assassin's Creed Valhalla was one of the strongest titles to come to Series X in Day One ("Day One", synonym for the date the console was released). Another long-awaited title of a famous franchise on consoles is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, hitting stores shortly thereafter on November 13. Watch Dogs Legion, in turn, arrived at the Day One of the Series X and only two weeks later for the PS5 (in physical media).
Mortal kombat 11 ultimate, Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon e Dirt 5 were other strong names optimized for the new generation. Interestingly, the popular Fortnite also had its graphical update with ray tracing applied, being an example for other games free-to-play to give the air of grace with the video games of 2020. No Man's Sky: The Next Generation went through its post-launch redemption and was one more on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Many of these games had free update for those who had the digital version in the previous generation, others forced a payment depending on the package purchased. Black ops cold war, for example, went on sale in the exclusive edition of PS4 and there is a multi-generation version for 40 reais more. Those who purchase physical PlayStation media must choose between PS4 or PS5, while the Xbox version comes in a unique package for both generations.

A strong point of Xbox is precisely this: those who have the physical media of new games and have not yet purchased a Series X need not worry, after all, a single disc works in both video games. In contrast, you cannot put Watch Dogs Legion of the PS5 on your PS4 as it will not work.
It is worth ing that, with rare exceptions in the case of the PS5, both consoles are backward compatible with the previous generation. That means you can run 99% of the games in your PS4 physical/virtual library on your PS5. Another highlight for the video game of Microsoft is that everything you've had since the first Xbox (ie four generations!) will work on your Series X, allowing you to play thousands of games, including classics you've saved.
Exclusive titles 6qi5x

When we talk about backwards compatibility and classic games, it's inevitable to think about the titles that promise to mark this generation of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. In advance, there are not many – as we know, a lot has been postponed to 2021. Along with the PS5 we had the Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a direct sequel to the PS4 exclusive. Positive point for the PS5 that had a free game, the Astro's Playroom, where you get a demonstration of all that the new controls provide with their adaptive triggers, as well as seeing a recap of video games from Sony.
In 2021 things have changed a bit. Earlier this year we already had two unique highlights (surreal and paranormal) of the horror genre: return on PS5 and The Medium in Series X. There was also Hitman 3, Controller: Ultimate Edition, Little Nightmares 2, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, It Takes Two, Resident evil village e Outriders released for both video games.

On the Series X side we didn't have a big flagship as Halo Infinite had to be postponed, but there were a dozen games from the last generation with performance upgrades for the new console, such as Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5 e Ori and the Will of the Wisps. There is an extensive list of games with updates from Day One, most of them exclusive and also part of the Xbox subscription system.
Game Subscriptions: Game x PS Plus 6e6c7
Not necessarily limited to console exclusives (and still being a service Xbox exclusive) we have the Game , which could not be ignored in this comparison between PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This is a R$29,99 per month subscription that entitles you to hundreds of games for the Series X, with all the exclusives released and able at no additional cost. There is a subscription of only 5 reais for three months, followed by R$ 44,99/month for those who want to add this to the Xbox Live Gold to play online and enjoy the service's games on PC as well.

This package includes games from the developers Bethesdaas the FIFA 21 coins, Battlefield 1, Anthem, Skyrim, Fallout 4 e Doom Eternal. There are also hits from other studios, such as Resident Evil XNUMX, GTA V, Rainbow Six Siege e Dead by Daylight. As it is a “revolving rental”, you have these games in their entirety to and play as many times as you want until they are out of the catalog – Xbox will notify you when this is the case.
In order not to be too late in this race, the Sony decided to come up with a suitable answer: the PS Plus Collection, compilation of the games that marked the PS4, now on the PS5. Among them we have Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, God of War, Detroit: Become Human, Days Gone e Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Games from other studios are also on this list, like Batman: Arkham Knight, Final Fantasy XV, Monster Hunter: World e 5 person. Unlike Xbox with a rotating catalog, Plus lets you keep the games forever in the library, as long as you continue to subscribe to it.

PS Plus has been a subscription since the PS3 and PS Vita, bringing about one or two free games per month for each console. Gaining traction on PS4, it also serves online play – as the mandatory payment model for online play is something that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have carried through this transition. Currently it still brings one free title per month for PS4 and PS5, but it is rarely a AAA game (blockbuster, triple-A).
The subscription is also lower than Game , costing BRL 25,90/month and an annual package of BRL 149,90. These values are valid until July 7, when there will be an adjustment of R$34,90 for the monthly subscription and R$199,90 for the annual subscription. Exclusive releases, however, still cost the full amount – over R$300 per game. Even so, surely the two subscription models, Game and Plus, are very economical for those who want to take the first step in the new generation and don't want to spend a lot of money on games.
Who got the better of it? What to expect in 2021? e1u5t

Six months later, video games secure themselves as the first step in this new generation. The two were ready in of hardware and in of reinvention in design, deserving applause. Opting for two consoles with different proposals can be beneficial for those who want to spend a little less and acquire the Series S. Meanwhile, Xbox chose to carry with it an interface and control almost identical to the previous generation.
In parallel, the PS5 proved to be a video game worthy of the new generation, having a slightly lower price for those who only want to games, without a “more affordable version” of hardware. The PS5 controller certainly deserves to be highlighted for its technological innovation in of the triggers, integrated microphone and the differentiated vibration. Among tests of loading for gaming, the PS5 also gets the better of it.
They've had strengths when it comes to games, whether they're exclusive or not. The free cross-gen upgrade has its plus point for physical media on Xbox and is balanced between PS5 and Xbox Series X/S when it comes to digital media. However, it's still too early to try to define who came out on top, as we haven't even had half a dozen AAA hits so far (if we add both!).

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the biggest confirmed release on the PS5, which will take place on the 11th. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, updated version of remake, arrives on the 10th with a free update for those who have the 2020 version of the PS4. Horizon forbidden west e God of war ragnarok there are two others that promise to force a lot of people to want to buy a PS5, but both do not have confirmed dates - the last official information said that they would come out in 2021.
Halo fans simply need Halo Infinite, exclusive to Xbox. Games like Psychonauts 2, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, Hello neighbor 2 e Ark 2 promise to be Series X/S exclusive sequels that should draw audiences to the console. If we add that to the dozens of franchises that are backwards compatible with previous generations, you have enormous potential for nostalgic gamers out there.

For both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S we have a lot of good stuff ahead. the promised Dying Light 2 e Dragon Age 4 are on the radar of those who follow gamers events for a long time. There is still the game Star Wars da Ubisoft, the same developer that postponed the long-awaited Far Cry 6. Another much talked about is the Bethesda, which is developing The Elder Scrolls VI and also an Indiana Jones adventure game. Finally, we will have two games from Rocksteady, Suicide Squad e Gotham Knights, for 2022.
The console race has started and it's too early to predict a winner, but we believe we've given you a good overview for you to draw your own conclusions about which console suits you best. So, between PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which one did you like the most? Do you think the PS5 is worth it? Or is Xbox worth it? Tell us in the comments below!
