Tutorial: Retiring the Voice Messaging Service (the old answering machine) on Vivo, Oi Tim and Claro.

The old answering machine it's a thing of the past! If you hate calling the service voice messages and listen to messages, maybe it's time to retire yours.

Technology has evolved by leaps and bounds since the first answering machine (the one who wore mini tapes cassette for recording messages on landline lines), to the voice message gifts on smartphones. It turns out that even they have already been overtaken by more practical ways of recording voice and text messages, such as the Whatsapp, which eliminates the need to call the operator's voice mail.

Despite this, telephone operators still enable “voice box” as a default when purchasing a line. Her mother may even say that she is useful, but for us, she is nothing more than an outdated option and that usually makes us miss forgotten messages there.

Retiring the voicemail box
“You called João Silva, I can't answer at the moment… Leave your message after the beeep.”

Trying to bring you into the XNUMXst century, we created this simple tutorial to disable voice mail on the 4 Brazilian telephone operators (Vivo, Tim, Claro and Hi). See how it works:

1st Option: Record a new Alert Message

Already start by alerting the unsuspecting who insist and leaving messages after the "Beep". Change your default recording to one that alerts you to your intentions not to use the mailbox and already clarify the way in which you prefer to receive your messages. At this time, it is good to clarify the recommended channel, such as text messages (SMS), WhatsApp ou e-mail. For example:

“You called João Silva. I don't use this message box, so I recommend that you me by SMS, or by email at [email protected].”

2nd Option: Turn off, once and for all, Voice Mail

This option is, in my opinion, the best. It's just that, even following the suggestion above, someone always resists and ends up leaving the message. This is because many people are still conditioned to react to the noise of the "Beep" at the end of the message (and there's no way to remove it).

Stay alert, since each operator has a specific procedure, so we will present each one of them:

Light Operator: 5k2x1h

  • Call to 1052
  • Stay on the line to confirm service to the number you are calling and write down the protocol number.
  • type 8 to talk about other services.
  • Wait on the line to speak to an operator and request a cancellation. Have your data at hand Tax ID (F)data de birth.
  • Then the attendant will confirm the cancellation.

TIM operator: el1w

  • Call to * 144
  • Choose option 1.
  • Choose option 0 (talk to attendant).
  • Report that you want to disable voice mail and remove its icon by informing name e Tax ID (F) of the line holder.

Operator Hi: 2g6o64

  • If not, at my hi (https://minha.oi.com.br/portal/site/MinhaOi/Cadastrar?).
  • Be  in the system and click on Mobile in the top menu.
  • In the Services option, choose the option: Service Activation or Deactivation.
  • Choose Deactivated in the Oi PO Box.
  • Confirm.

Vivo Operator (Post): 3u722

  • Call to * 8486.
  • Choose option 6 (Other services).
  • Choose option 1 (Mailbox).
  • Choose option 2 (Disable).

You will receive a SMS confirming service deactivation.

Note: despite being on the website Living the indication of how to cancel the mailbox, it does not work. We did not find the option 6 in the electronic call center menu. In any case, it is still possible to cancel by talking directly to the attendants.

Vivo Operator (Control): z2z6a

  • Call to * 8486.
  • type it 5.
  • type it 2.
  • You will receive a SMS confirming service deactivation.

Note: On site Living, there is information that it is possible to make this cancellation over the internet, through the portal My Alive. However, we could not find the link to this service.

In general, these procedures are simple to perform, with some variation depending on the operator and location. There are still customer complaints where the service returned after some time. So it pays to be alert.
