This window cleaning robot is smart and can make your life faster when cleaning large windows and mirrors, but is it worth investing in it? Check it out now in the full review!

Robot vacuum cleaners have become quite popular, but have you ever heard of a window cleaning robot? The robot Cleanbot R1800 da Multi It's the bet on this device that made me very curious and even confused about how it would work. It's an interesting product, and you can check every detail about what it is like and whether it's worth investing your money in. 2h5x3r

We are getting closer and closer to the era Jetsons — the cartoon from the 1960s that envisioned what the future would be like, with robots performing domestic tasks — and the Cleanbot R1800 is a good example of that. This window cleaning robot is entirely made of plastic, but it doesn't look bad or very cheap. It is made in two colors, with some parts black and others white, a detail that adds beauty to the robot.

Compared to robot vacuum cleaners, which are more charming with their rounded design, this more square-shaped product looks clumsy — but not ugly. At the top, there is a sealed opening for the water tank. In the middle of the robot, we can find the button on off. Just below this button, there is a space with LEDs. In color Red the robot is in an irregular state and in the blue everything is normal. On the side, another LED It also lights up when recharging the device, orange when charging and green when fully charged. Finally, on the other side, the input for the power adapter was placed.

At the bottom, some very important things were placed for operation. In the four corners, we can find 4 anti-fall sensors. Towards the middle, there are the sliding mats, so that he can walk on the glass. Finally, right in the middle, there is a fan. On the right side, there are two holes, made for the robot to release water sprays. On the left side there is only one air outlet.

There are many small elements included in a single product, but, in practice, it is very easy to use. Another included element that deserves to be mentioned is a rope attached to the robot's body. It cannot be removed and is very long. At its tip, it has a carabiner so you can attach it to firm places and ensure the robot's safety in more dangerous uses.

In the box, there are some accessories. To assist with gliding and cleaning, the robot needs a MOP at the bottom. The box includes 4 of these and they can be fitted together by just gluing them on, very easy. A bottle to apply water to the robot is also in the kit, but the best accessory is the remote control. It already comes with batteries included and allows you to control all functions in a practical way. Of course, for everything to work well, the power adapter and power cable are also found here.

Usability 1h2p1k

Going into practice, the robot Cleanbot R1800 It caused some fear at first impression, but it proved to be very interesting. It promises to do its job on windows, glass, mirrors and smooth tiles, and can be a great ally in places where we cannot reach.

The first thing I did when I went to test it was put water in its tank so it could work decently. Next, you need to place the MOP at the bottom. With those two things done, just connect the window cleaning robot the energy. In this case, I thought it would run on battery power, but it must always be plugged in. An interesting point that guarantees more safety here is that the connector is screwable, keeping the robot secured.

Before use, you need to put your favorite cleaning product on the microfiber MOP. It is recommended that you do not soak the product. Once done, plug everything into the socket, choose your glass to be cleaned and press the power button. The robot will automatically turn on and stick to the wall, mirror, or whatever structure you chose. Just pay attention to where you are using the robot, to see if the rope is needed and if it is properly attached to the wall.

With that done, just choose one of the modes or choose a direction from the Remote control. There are three possible modes, namely:

  • Z/N mode where the robot will try to make a complete path in all directions;
  • N Mode where the focus is on going up and down;
  • Z Mode focusing on getting from one side to the other. With the directional pads, we were able to control the robot manually.

In the symbol of drop, we were able to define how the water will be used. On the button left to AU, we activate Automatic mode where the robot will release water in the way it deems best. Using the button on the right, we release water in our own way.

Using the window cleaning robot is very easy, but at least in my use, I couldn't find it that relevant. The fact that it always needs to be connected to the socket discourages use, taking away the practicality proposed by the product and making the cleaning process more time-consuming.

The point that made me most lazy to use it is that it depends on an outlet to use it. This took away the practicality of the product for me and made the entire process take longer than it should.

On the other hand, once I put the robot to work in automatic mode, it left everything clean and it's not something I had to worry about messing with all the time. One important thing I noticed is that, in places where the robot will have to face obstacles, automatic mode will be much more difficult. That said, on these occasions, the best thing to do is to use manual mode.

Battery 554u5p

Despite having a battery included, the Cleanbot R1800 It does not have the native option of being used directly on the battery. This function is protection against power outages and can last up to 40 minutes unplugged. In this mode, the robot will not leave its place and will emit a warning sound, as well as flashing red lights to indicate what is happening.

In these cases, using the rope is also very necessary, depending on where the robot stopped when the power went out.

App 691w1c

Multi App to manage the robot and other brand products (Image: Tiago Rodrigues/ Showmech)

Like any smart product, you can install an app to manage the Cleanbot R1800 straight from your cell phone. The app is the Multi Connected Home, available to Android e iOS. It has no difference compared to competitors, but it is necessary to configure the smart functions of the brand's products.

In the case of the window cleaning robot, I found it very disposable. The functions included in the app are the same as those already available on the remote control, without anything new, so I see no reason to have it here.

Complete kit for the Cleanbot R1800 window cleaning robot (Image: Multi)

The robot Cleanbot R1800 It is an appliance that pleasantly surprised me. Just like robot vacuum cleaners, this could become an interesting new category for consumers. I believe that it is a product for a well-selected audience and that it should not work for everyone.

My mother was an example. When testing it, she thought it was cool, but she prefers the idea of doing the job that the robot would be doing herself. This is where the idea of needing an outlet comes in as a problem. Having to assemble it every time we use it is more work than taking a cloth and cleaning the windows manually.

Now when we analyze the product just for itself, we see that it is something very ingenious and seems to have a future. I honestly had never seen a robot focused on cleaning windows, so being the first it won me a lot in of functions and features.

The robot Cleanbot R1800 is available on Magazine Luiza by R$2.005,90, with the possibility of paying in up to 10 installments. Personally, I think the value is a little steep, but this will largely depend on how useful it can be for you. I imagine that in the coming months and years this type of robot will gain more traction and cheaper models will emerge.
