Review: Galaxy J8, the mid-range with large screen and dual camera 13e1n

With a large screen, design, durable battery and dual camera, the Galaxy J8 doesn't just offer NFC, but it's already a great phone.

The line Galaxy J da Asus. 683f60

If you can't afford the tops of the range or the mid-rangers of the A-line, this is a model that should meet all the demands of a demanding .

Even if your processor is not one of the best on the market, the Snapdragon 450 performs day to day tasks very well. Its finish is well done and makes a good partnership with its 4 GB of RAM memory.

I tell you now how he behaved in daily use for more than a month with him.

Its smooth back makes the device very slippery.

Its body is very resistant, with a polycarbonate rear finish and aluminum sides, its construction gives an air of a well-finished and strong device for falls. The finish of the rounded edges continues to shine even in an intermediate model of the Samsung.

The physical button on the front is gone, leaving the Galaxy J8 with the look of a top-of-the-line device with infinite screen. With your stretched body and canvas superAMOLED leaves the device with a beautiful finish.

Model kept micro-USB connector and P2 phone input

Having a very complete device with a large 6-inch screen with 18.5;9 and only HD resolution, leaves many fans of series and YouTube quite upset. When playing, the low resolution is also needed.

With a charger that is not even 10W, it takes a long time to give the device a good charge in the rush of everyday life. But for those who only carry the device when going to sleep, you won't feel so much trouble. Normally, he kept to himself until the end of a very busy day.

The biometric reader, located at the back, below the main cameras, was in a very ergonomic position, facilitating the almost instantaneous unlocking of the device. Facial recognition, on the other hand, could be faster, but nothing that gets in the way.

The model has an interesting novelty, the dual-SIM (non-hybrid) that allows 2 SIM cards and the microSD card at the same time in two separate trays. O J8 can be found in violet, black and silver colors.

The sound output, on the side of the device, was a big problem in the Galaxy J6 test and is repeated here as well Galaxy J8. Since when watching the contents, most of the time horizontally, the hand or one of the fingers always appears there to muffle the sound of the output. The quality is good, but it's not stereo. The novelty at this point is the good Dolby Atmos that unfortunately only works with some headphones, making everything more immersive, both for videos and for music.

The battery wins a gold medal in the J8. With its 3.500 mAh, it doesn't let anyone down throughout the day. In all tests, we did not have the device turned off on any day.

At the end of the day, it usually arrived to gain charge with still 25% of the battery. Of course, the screen resolution in HD and the brightness levels not always at the maximum, help a lot to make it last well all day.

Camera mode brings many functions and portrait or bokeh mode

O Galaxy J8 It has 2 cameras on the back, the main sensor of 16 megapixels and the secondary sensor of only 5 megapixels. The second lens serves only to assist in the dynamic focus, name given by Samsung for the feature which is also known as “Portrait Mode” or just “Bokeh”.

Its 16-megapixel main camera with f/1.7 aperture does the job of shooting outdoors very well. The post processing sometimes stands out a little from reality, but nothing that a quick adaptation can't solve.

And let's not forget about the good HDR, which also improves many of the darkest photos without the need for flash.

In of video, don't expect a first-class job from the device, as it only records in Full HD and with only 30 fps. Don't expect blur-free images, it also doesn't have any stability sensors.

I leave some examples in the gallery below with normal everyday photos and in “Bokeh” mode with selfies and also capturing the flowers;

Applications and system showed good stability

O Android 8.0 Oreo arrives from the factory running with the interface Samsung Experience in version 9.0. Nothing here made me complain about Samsung. Many say that pure Android will make the device more beautiful, but I have not seen any problem in this regard.

Perhaps, if the company gave the the option, being able to choose which of their own applications they would like to keep on the device, everything would be even better.

Some apps that used GPS sometimes needed to be restarted due to lack of communication with the location sensor. Most of the time, the Waze was being used at this time.

Model comes in 3 colors and cheaper price, but lacks screen resolution (HD).

It is worth buying the Galaxy J8?

Even with some serious faults, such as the lack of NFC and without recognizing 5 Ghz Wi-Fi connections, the device delivers good performance in the applications we use the most, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and many others.

If you have a tight budget, let's say that with its current price on the market, something around R$ 1.200, it is worth the purchase. The big difference compared to direct competitors is having a design very similar to the more models and since it does not have such a heavy processing, it manages to deliver more breath to the battery until the end of the day.
