Who stayed up late to watch the first total lunar eclipse 2022 could follow a beautiful phenomenon. For 84 minutes, Brazilians from all over the country managed to take great photos and videos, but in Europe and other cities in the Americas, it was also possible to follow the moment that became known as Blood Moon.

NASA broadcast the total eclipse of the moon 

Everyone who was awake during the night of the 15th to the 16th of May 2022 could follow, without any special equipment or protection, the total eclipse of the Moon.

If you would like to see all the details, the NASA did a great live broadcast, in which throughout the phenomenon, it was possible to see the Blood Moon in maximum quality, directly over the internet. Review the moment right now: 

The phenomenon always happens when the Moon, Sun and Earth are completely aligned, and for a few hours, it is possible to see our natural satellite in a different color than usual. Sunlight es through the Earth's atmosphere, but deflects through the wavelengths to reflect off our natural satellite, in a refracted and dispersed way. The optical effect is called Rayleigh scattering and causes the famous blood moon.

When will the next lunar eclipse be? 

According to information from NASA, a new total lunar eclipse will take place from the night of November 07th to 08th, 2022. Just like previous phenomena, the event that takes place in 145 days will last 84 minutes, when our natural satellite will “change” color.

Unfortunately, the US space agency (NASA) announced that the next natural phenomenon of the Moon will be best seen on the west coast of North America, with Australia and Southeast Asia.
