REVIEW: Snapdragon Phone is the ultimate experience for fans of the brand y3f2o

Luis Felipe Herrera Avatar
The Snapdragon Phone features the Snapdragon 888 5G, 16 GB of RAM, OLED screen, in addition to accessories such as TWS headset and 65W charger

Known for developing the most powerful chipsets in the smartphone market, Qualcomm brings to the market the Snapdragon Phone, which brings technologies, adjustments and the experience proposed by Qualcomm. The smartphone has specifications very close to the ROG Phone 5, ASUS — which manufactures the Snapdragon Phone — but brings its own set of unique features 1ps6g

It arrived in the US market for an impressive $1.499, but its proposal is precisely to contain all the items you need to have not only the best gaming smartphone experience, but also the best fast charging and audio experience. Does this kit justify the price? Check out the review full of showmetech sobre or Snapdragon Phone.

Unboxing 5o2u5u

snapdragon phone box

The idea of Qualcomm is to make the Snapdragon Phone be different from the way it is presented. Its box is huge and as soon as it is opened, we can see the smartphone and the TWS headset. Removing this first tray, we have the boxes separated from all the items that come with the smartphone: the protective case (bumper style), the headphones box and the Turbo Charge charger. In addition, we also have a USB-C to USB-C type cable and a USB to USB-C type cable – two connecting cables inside the same box is too good to be true.

Snapdragon phone full screen and interface
Snapdragon Phone screen has few edges and is great for use

The front part of Snapdragon Phone brings the screen with few edges - only the top and bottom edges being slightly thicker - and on top, a light sensor that lights up with different colors and the front camera. At the back, we have a very nice dark blue, with a particularly interesting matte finish, as it doesn't accumulate fingerprints easily.

Snapdragon phone bumper case
The bumper-style case that comes with the Snapdragon Phone is great for protecting your smartphone and making the back look super-beautiful.

The jumped camera array is circled by a very pretty shade of pink. Below it, we have the fingerprint sensor and below it, the Snapdragon logo with the fireball of the logo in a square of glass that lights up in a white light. You can control it however you like.

back of snapdragon phone
Jumped camera set has a pink detail and is very well finished

It is a very beautiful and sophisticated detail, but in practice it will serve to consume your battery quickly and confuse you when using the fingerprint sensor, as it is at a height close to the sensor and the touch sensation is very similar between they.

Fireball symbol with snapdragon phone lighting
Logo with LED on the back is beautiful, but it will get in the way when using the fingerprint sensor

The left side is completely plain, while the right has the volume up/down button and the on/off button, which has the same pink finish on the side of the camera array.

At the top we have only one microphone while at the bottom we have the drawer for the carrier chip, another microphone, the USB-C type input and the speaker.

Screen and Sound 1c85u

The screen we have here is 6,8 inches with OLED , FHD+ resolution (2448 x 1080 pixels) and 396 dpi (dots per inch), protected by technology Corning Gorilla Glass Foods. It is excellent for watching videos and movies throughout the day, as FHD+ helps to make content more immersive – in addition to being very pleasant for the video to occupy the entire screen of the smartphone.

The screen's refresh rate reaches 144 Hz, essential for the most demanding gamers. The good news is that you can leave the function in automatic mode, so that the phone activates 144 Hz only when playing games, preventing your battery from draining quickly just by using common applications. That said, 144 Hz makes all the difference and makes the gaming experience smooth and seamless. Any game is simply more beautiful to play when you see it working with such fluidity.

The speaker itself is excellent. Stereo-type sound fills in space, giving music and videos much more depth. It's a great sound for listening to music without an auxiliary speaker for some people, which maintains the quality even with the volume turned up.

Furthermore, Qualcomm also equips the sound experience of the Snapdragon Phone with a TWS (wireless) headset. O Snapdragon Earbuds is developed by Master & Dynamic and is an adaptation of the MW08SI model that incorporates the technology snapdragon sound.

Active Noise Canceling TWS Headset Brings Level Audio Experience to Snapdragon Phone

If what we're used to is seeing accessories disappearing from the box, here we have a TWS in-ear headphone with excellent sound quality, active noise cancellation, 10 hours battery life, great microphone and one of the best headphone designs. most comfortable ear I've ever experienced. It's very easy to spend hours wearing them and forget they're in your ears.

Performance 58a2u

Snapdragon 888 5G is the chipset that powers the Snapdragon Phone

O Snapdragon Phone comes equipped with nothing less than the Snapdragon 888 5G, the most powerful chipset in the Qualcomm at present — which equips devices such as the ASUS ROG Phone 5, Galaxy z fold3 e Galaxy z flip3 from Samsung. In addition, if you like a smartphone with really powerful settings, which compare to a great PC, check it out: there are 16 GB of RAM, 512 of internal storage, Adreno 660 GPU and the Android 11.

In theory, you can even find some other smartphones with specifications that manage to present slightly better numbers than the one we have here, but speaking in practice, this is the best gaming performance you can find on the market.

The combination of the excellent OLED screen with the fluidity of 144 Hz, with all the graphic power possible to be generated with these specifications, means that there is no game available on the Play Store that it doesn't run with everything maxed out in the Snapdragon Phone.

pubg snapdragon phone
PUBG performs excellently on the Snapdragon Phone

In our performance test, playing Pokemon Unite with the graphics, brightness, sound and refresh rate at maximum, I didn't get any kind of crash or drop in performance even after hours of playing. The smartphone remained cold even after an hour of gaming. I also emphasize that I did not use a protective case, so the smartphone was in direct with my hand without anything to retain heat.

For those of us who are in Brazil, it is still not possible to see the full power of the Snapdragon 888 5G since 5G has not yet completely arrived in our country – when looking at the specifications for the device itself, you will find “Snapdragon 888 2,4 GHz” , since the power of 5G cannot be used.

This information is valuable, as it guarantees not only that you will already have a smartphone in your hands that will be able to make use of the technology, but also that you will have a chipset so powerful that it will only be able to have its full potential revealed in the coming years. This is a testament to the Snapdragon Phone not only will it be able to keep up with you for the next 4, 5 years, but that it will do so with top-of-the-line performance for a very long time.

Battery 554u5p

It is inevitable to make direct comparisons between the Snapdragon Phone and ROG Phone 5 especially in cases where the model of ASUS has more to offer, and in of battery, that's pretty evident. We have 4.000 mAh of battery here, with the ROG Phone 5 having 6.000 mAh. Thinking that it is a smartphone made to abuse the power of its processor, and that it has a screen with 144 Hz refresh, a lower battery life is a problem to be taken into .

In moderate usage – using the smartphone for normal tasks during the day, occasionally playing short games, watching videos and listening to music – the 4.000 mAh will easily last a full day and arrive the next morning.

On the other hand, intense use – playing games a lot, using the best graphics, in addition to watching videos for long periods, among other common activities – will make the battery need to be charged early in the evening of the same day.

Pokemon unite snapdragon phone
Pokémon Unite with the best possible graphics options only drained 20% of battery after 1 full hour of play

Of course, the intensity of your gaming is what will dictate how long the battery will last. In our tests, I played Pokemon Unite for 1 hour with brightness, sound and refresh rate at maximum and in that period, 20% of battery was consumed, a satisfactory result, since you would need to play for 5 uninterrupted hours with all settings at maximum to drain the battery completely. Certainly 5 hours with the best possible performance is excellent, we are only disappointed that the base model of the device has even more battery and is sold for a lower price.

Quick charge 5 qualcomm snapdragon phone
Qualcomm's Quick Charge 5 recharges the Snapdragon Phone faster than you can imagine

On the other hand, Qualcomm send with the Snapdragon Phone the charger Quick Charge 5, that offers an incredible 65W, and amazing fast charging. I tried completely unloading the smartphone to test it, and it charged 0 to 70% in half an hour quality 0 to 100% in just 42 minutes. So, if you actually play for 5 hours straight, put your smartphone in the socket, get up, get some fresh air, drink some water and in the meantime it will be fully charged.

Cameras 353z5z

Snapdragon phone triple camera set
Snapdragon Phone Triple Camera Set

The set of cameras Snapdragon Phone it's composed by:

  • 64 MP main camera and f/1.8 aperture;
  • Ultrawide with 12 MP and f/2.2 aperture;
  • Telephoto with 8 MP and 3x optical zoom;
  • 24 MP main front camera;
  • LED flash.

Taking into that this is a smartphone with a focus on performance, the camera set of the Snapdragon Phone it is excellent. The difference between the camera set of the ROG Phone 5 it's in the presence of a telephoto camera with optical zoom rather than a macro camera — which in of usability, a quality zoom will be more of a day-to-day use than a close-up camera.

The set as a whole is very good and leaves nothing to be desired in any specific point, bringing a lot of versatility to your hands. Below, I bring three examples photographing landscape with the set of cameras.

The main highlight here is the 3x optical zoom. It is quite common for the zoom to leave something to be desired, but the optical zoom we have here is of excellent quality and is super worth using. It is possible to force it up to 10x zoom, but after 3x, the optical zoom turns into digital zoom, and then we have sudden and noticeable drops in image quality, so I recommend not pushing it beyond 3x, which is already excellent.

The ultrawide camera also pleases, as it manages to understand a very significant amount of information in the image, while the main camera, as expected, is the one that brings the best image quality of the whole set. Below, I bring three more examples photographing this time, an indoor environment with the set of cameras.

The main camera is so particularly good and accurate with minute detail that I only enjoy trying to take close-up shots of objects with it, as we don't have a macro camera here.

The front camera is a pleasant surprise, delivering great photos even in less favorable lighting environments. The selfies with Snapdragon Phone They have great image and color quality. See below test photos of the front and main rear camera.

And speaking of video recordings, the Snapdragon Phone takes videos in up to 8K 30 FPS and 4K 60 FPS quality. Certainly the Snapdragon 888 it helps a lot in the optimization of the set of cameras, which manages to have a quality much higher than expected in this sense. You can go pulling the optical zoom during your videos, giving dynamism to the recording. And with the front camera, you can shoot at up to Full HD 60 FPS, or Full HD with HDR mode on.

Conclusion 60664y

Even with some details like the battery that could be better, the final product is without a doubt, too good to be true. That's what the price pulls for reality: the Snapdragon Phone It costs US$1.499 — equivalent to R$8.449 today, which is a lot of money. If you are planning to buy a smartphone that brings the best that smartphones can offer, and have a complete experience inside the box, I'm sure this is a product that will surprise you a lot.

The smartphone still does not have any forecast of being launched in the Brazilian market, but you can find where to buy the Snapdragon Phone na ASUS US store.
