For all fans of the saga of Star Wars, 2015 has been a very special year. After 10 years of “Revenge of the Sith”, a new trilogy will begin in December 17th with the debut of "The force awakens".
Since the new movie was announced, our lives have been invaded by new toys, collectibles, promotions, books and events to celebrate the universe created by George Lucas.
O star wars run is one of those events. Started in 2013 in Orlando, at Parque da Disney, aimed to bring fans – many of them dressed as their favorite characters – out for a run or just to hang out with the family and celebrate geek culture.
The event was so successful that, through the partnership with Adidas, became a world event, present in more than 27 countries. In 2015, the star wars run arrived in Brazil, with races in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in the mode of 7 km.
The event in São Paulo took place this last Saturday (28/11) and started at 21h00. The participants left the Latin America Memorial and, in a street circuit, they ed the Elevated Costa e Silva and other parts of the city, all under the rain.
For those who think the rain scared the participants away, the race had over 6 entries and over 9 participants (as this is a street circuit, there is no need to sign up or pay to participate).
With stands set up every kilometer, the runner who was participating in a recreational way could stop and take pictures with the characters of the saga.
The space had sponsors' stands such as Vigor, and Brooksfield, And food trucks so that the companions of the participants could spend the race time, predicted to last up to 2 hours.
The prize for the top runners in the men's and women's categories was a 5-night trip to Orlando). In the men's category, André Albieri from Santana left everyone behind and finished the test in 21 minutes and 30 seconds. In the women's category, Zenaide Vieira finished the race in 26 minutes and 23 seconds.
In addition to the race, there was a contest for the best costume in the Duos, Women's and Men's categories. The awards included special kits of the partners of Disney.
There was only one incident during the entire race: a young man fell ill halfway through and had to be rescued. It is worth ing that, for those who have never participated in any race, it is necessary to make a check-up before and be practicing physical activity regularly.
