It seems that the tablets really are good sales performance in the last years. Several factors contribute to this, but the most evident is really the consumer disinterest. 224t6u
Em 2016 the Brazilian tablet market sold approx. 4 million of units. This number already represents a 32% decrease em relação a 2015 who also had 20% drop in sales compared to the previous year. For the second consecutive year we have less sales and the forecast for 2017 according to IDC, is that total sales in Brazil fall to 3,7 million.
Since 2010, when the first iPad started the tablet race on the market, we had a peak in sales in 2014 with 9,4 units sold and since then this number has only decreased. In other words, the peak of these gadgets has ed and a lot is due to the fact that smartphones with 5-inch screens (or more) meet our need for a device to consume content.

The price is also another determining factor for the purchase. Many people prefer to invest a little more and buy a notebook rather than a tablet, or just keep their smartphone for more casual tasks, such as watching videos, listening to music, browsing the internet and social networks.
Such data are part of the study IDC Brazil Tablets Tracker Q4, carried out by IDC Brazil. This study says that of the total number of tablets sold last year, only 26,5 were notebooks with detachable screens, the so-called 2-in-1.
Even with a significant drop in sales, a positive aspect happened: “in 2016, after the tablet sales boom, 80% of the market was dominated by three companies that resisted the crisis period and the cannibalization of these devices. This left the sector healthier and with products that offer a better experience to the consumer.“, says Wellington La Falce, market analyst at IDC Brasil.

Such companies, apple, samsung e Lenovo, continue to bring options to consumers, and options with more quality and features for everyday life and productivity. Options like the iPad Pro e Galaxy Tab S3 have created a niche within the tablet market focused on productivity, but have not yet managed to leverage sales. According to IDC, the iPad Pro represents just 10% of iPad sales.
Also according to the study, the products sold in 2016 were in a price range only 3% higher than in the previous year. "In 2015, tablets cost, on average, R$ 500. Last year, prices were in the range of R$ 513“, completes La Falce.
What's the problem with tablets? Are they really unnecessary, or is the price still not pleasing to consumers? Leave your opinion in the comments.
