The new entry-level smart TV that landed in Brazil to conquer the Brazilians' living room is the TV hands-on, but TCL made the 50-inch model available to us for testing to see if it really should be the choice of the family that wants to enter the 4K world without spending too much. construction and design 1241l

The line P8M is a step above S6500 when it comes to construction. THE TCL abandons plastic and gives way to a metallic finish both on the body and on the s that accompany it, bringing a more and well-finished look. And this is reflected in the entire structure of the environment, as it gives a feeling of using a more expensive model than it really is.
Assembling the TV stands is not so easy and we recommend that two people do the process. It's not light either, so carrying the P8M alone may not be a good idea – when in doubt, ask someone nearby for help.

The design is another point that draws attention: its edges are quite thin, and on the bottom edge there is the logo of TCL stamped on a more circular aluminum bar. On more expensive models, this bar is an integrated sound system, but here it's just a bar.

No our hands-on, we were curious to test the true quality of the 4K and Upcaling da P8M TV content with lower resolutions. Already ahead, 4K content really stands out here, now in lower quality content, the technology of Upcaling leaves much to be desired. Let's explain why.

Upcaling is the technology used in TVs and other players to simulate the image at a higher resolution than it originally was. For example, imagine a movie only available in Full HD (1080p). If your television was 4K (3.840 x 2.160 pixels) and had Upcaling, the device would be able to reproduce all available pixels in the image reproduction. In practice, a good Upcaling is the one who manages to “convert” these contents to be seen in great quality.

Na P8M 4K TV, we noticed that this conversion doesn't do a good job and the images are even more blurry and color washed out compared to a native Full HD TV. For the purposes of comparison, a Full HD model from S6500, of its own TCL, shows better results even with the Upcaling da P8M activated. We looked for the device settings and, until the time of publishing this review, we did not find an option that disables the function.
Despite this, 4K in 4K content is really impressive, technologies HDR e Microphone Dimming give a gain in color vividness and displayed brightness. The 120Hz response rate is another plus point, partially eliminating any possible “ghosting” that appears on the screen.
Android TV and Google Assistant 1p156k

Just like all new TVs from TCL in Brazil, P8M 4K accompanies the Android TV, from Google, as the operating system. The system has a standard, well-organized and intuitive interface. Applications are housed in small rectangles and separated by categories – who has used them you will get familiar with it quickly.
The applications in Android TV also have more frequent updates and a wider range of availability compared to any smart TV with its own system, such as the Samsung e LG. This includes games and entertainment apps like Twitch that are not available on competitors' systems.

O chromecast that comes embedded in P8M 4K It's very convenient when it comes to quickly transmitting content from your smartphone to the TV – for those who are familiar with the system, you will love the function. Due to the new quad-core processor, the execution of some videos did not stutter like the S6500 gave during our tests. The transition between apps and games wasn't a problem either.
Another great feature built into the smart TV P8M 4K is Google Assistant, which brings all the convenience when it comes to consuming content. With just a press of a button, it is possible to speak directly into the microphone positioned on the remote control, such as the name of a series, song or video on the YouTube, to automatically start appearing on the screen. And speaking of control, there is nothing new about the S6500, it is very compact and easy to move.

Audio 3n1j5g
A P8M 4K is equipped with two 8W powered speakers. We liked the sound quality, with a good incidence of bass, especially due to the technology Dolby Audio. As in the cheaper models, the treble is very present and this can be a negative point when consuming movies. In addition, the presets are not very welcome, so we recommend using the equalizer to make your own sounds.
Conclusion 60664y
If you're looking for your first 4K TV and are considering P8M da TCL, know that it is one of the best built entry models available in Brazil. 4K content here is really impressive, even upscaling fails to convert simpler programs. The sound is also of high quality and shows a leap from the TCL S6500, in addition to the quad-core processor running all Android TV apps without any stuttering.
The smart TV from TCL compete directly with the RU7100, from Samsung, which also brings 4K resolution and cable-free visuals, which leaves a more wire-free environment. Competitions aside, the model of TCL shows a certain evolution in relation to the most basic lines and, in fact, has positive points to take into , even more because of its cost-benefit factor.
