The first CES that takes place from today (11) was attended by the TCL, a manufacturer that introduced its products aimed at improving lifestyle in the presentation called ExperienceMore – “Experience More”, in free translation. With more than 300 million products sold to more than 160 countries, TCL resumed in 2021 talking about technology Mini LED, introduced by them three years ago. 4v3k2s
The ball of the moment, which takes advantage of the Mini-LED technology, is the TCL OD Zero. It has high contrast accuracy (thousands of dots with local dimming) and wide HDR, only possible due to the reduced distance between the light source and the LCD . The name “Zero” is then explained: there is zero distance between the top layer and the bottom layer of the diffusion layer. The following is a comparative representation between traditional LED and the OD Zero :
Betting on Mini-LED, 8K and QLED display technologies, TCL adds one more variable to the bill: the scrollable AMOLED. The device grows from 6.7 to a 7.8 inch screen in just one touch.

Scrollables are also in another product type, called Printed OLED Scrolling Display. It consists of a wide screen (resembling a tablet), which you unroll like a parchment. According to TCL itself at the conference, the technology may also have commercial use, with “20% lower cost” than traditional displays.
Still in the TV portfolio, we have a powerful trio of products. The first big news is 4K LCD MINI-LED TV C825. Aimed at movie and game fans who care even more about small viewing details, it features Mini-LED technology and reduces the size of the traditional LED to 100 ~ 200 ?m.
Thanks to Quantum Dot Display (quantum dots), the C825 combines light and color, gamma and precise light control to achieve the highest overall final image quality effect. It brings the technologies Dolby Vision HDR e DolbyVisionIQ, for viewing and intelligent lighting adjustment. The “gaming side” of it lies in the fact that the TCL C825 has a MEMC of 120 Hz and a display with a frequency of 120 Hz.

In addition, the TCL TV has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, VRR, ALLM, eARC, WiFi6 and low input lag. This results in faster, smoother graphics and better sound effects. A 4MP magnetic camera on top provides excellent visual and audio interactions for superior video calling experiences.
Another with quantum dot technology is TCL C725 4K QLED, whose Dolby technology is also present (Vision and Atmos, for cinema image and audio). The C725 also features HDMI 2.1 to deliver smooth images even in fast-moving action scenes. Finally, the TCL P725 (4K HDR) stands out, for example, for voice control hands-free – that is, without having to use your hands to activate the microphone.
According to an official press release, the television operating system is the Google TV. This partnership combines the manufacturer's display technologies with Google's entertainment offerings. The brand new operating system is capable of bringing together movies, programs, live TV and other applications, acting intelligently by providing diverse content to the public, as well as the new Chromecast.
“We are excited to partner with TCL to bring Google TV to customers around the world. Google TV is a more useful and enjoyable TV experience that helps s find the content they love.”
Shobana Radhakrishnan, Senior Director of Engineering at Google TV
The TVs will first arrive in North American territory and then to other countries (including Brazil). So far there is no exact date or value announced by the company. For this and other information in the future, it is worth staying tuned to Showmetech here – including this week, as we will be covering the CES 2021.
