Tesla has announced that it is working on a battery pack to supply electricity for homes. the devices would be able to feed standard house for close to a week without the need for refills. The battery mechanism would be quite similar to the one used in the Toyota Mirai, using a fuel cell in which hydrogen combines with oxygen from the air, producing water and electricity, replacing the need to recharge it with conventional electrical energy, with refueling with hydrogen.
Some information was revealed during the event. Tesla Motors Fourth Quarter 2014 Financial Results Q&A Conference Call, held last Wednesday (11/02/2015) and transcribed by the technology site Seeking Alpha. O Tesla technical director, J.B. Straubel, spoke up and said that “the demand for long-term energy storage is extraordinary” and that the company must hold an event within “one or two months” to reveal more details about battery. Straubel did not want to provide any other information and ended by saying: "It's really very good. I'm very excited about your development.".

The company's CEO, Elon Musk, who was also present at the finance conference, did not fail to comment. According to the executive, the project is close to completion: “We are working hard to develop Tesla's home battery, the device will be intended for use in homes or businesses and will be available to consumers very soon.” he revealed to the news site Bloomberg.
Musk had already informed that the company was interested in build a battery that could be used in homes, as a sustainable alternative for residential energy management, in addition to contributing to lower electricity costs.

For now, the CEO has not informed the official date for the equipment's launch, however, he stated that production will probably start within six months. In times of environmental crisis and threats of rationing, this would be an invention that would literally sell like hotcakes!
