In an interview with Vanity Fair, Davis, who is also the producer of the feature, has already commented on the preparation of the cast for the melee combat scenes. “We started intensely a few months before filming – four hours a day, five days a week. Bodybuilding, running, martial arts and weapons training,” says the actress.

In addition, she talks about the immense responsibility of talking about African history and the female representation that exists in the production of the feature. “And being a producer on this, and knowing that I had a hand in making it a reality… I knew what that would mean for us as people of color.
