To install any Custom ROM in your Atrix you need to have the bootloader unlocked and allowed access root granted. If your device does not have this and if you are interested in installing some Custom ROM it is necessary that you read the instructions in these topics of the TopSmarts (https://goo.gl/c9PsU e https://goo.gl/Zu5u1) and apply described the tutorial before.
1. the necessary files for the ROM chosen. Transfer the ed files to the root of your SD card (important, do not unzip the files, they are in *.ZIP and must be in this format to be installed);
2. The next and very important step is to make a backup of your device preventing the loss of configuration, applications, etc. through Titanium Backup:
- If you don't already have the Titanium Backup, install it via Google Play (https://goo.gl/IxuqB), the free version will be enough;
- Open the application and click on the “Backup/Restore” option;
- Click on the “check” icon in the upper right corner of the application screen;
- Select Backup all apps + system data option;
- On the next screen all your apps will be selected by default, click the “check” icon in the upper right corner of the app screen again and wait. If possible, leave your device alone until Titanium completes the backup.
3. Completed backup of Titanium turn off your device;
4. Start the device in Recovery mode:
- With the device off, press and hold the power button and the volume down button simultaneously until the device starts in fastboot mode;
- Release the buttons and click the volume down button again until the recovery option appears, then click the volume up button;
5. Now make a backup using Recovery (Nandroid):
- Navigating with the volume button, access the “Backup and Restore” option (or a similar option as there are variations according to the Recovery or CWM installed);
- Select the backup option;
- Select the backup on the internal SD and wait (it may take a while)*;
- Select the backup on the external SD and wait (it may take a while)*;
- Once the backup is finished, return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
* being redundant in this case is essential in case any problem occurs.
6. Once the backup is done, now clean the device, there are two options:
6.1. coming from any ROM not based on Android Jelly Bean 4.1.1:
- Select the “Wipe Data / Factory Reset”;
- Access the “Advanced” menu;
- Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”;
- In Advanced do the “Wipe of Dalvik”;
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
6.2. Coming from some other ROM based on the Android Jelly Beam 4.1.1:
- Select the “Wipe Cache Partition”;
- Access the “Mounts and Storage” menu;
- Select “Format /System”;
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
- Access the “Advanced” menu;
- Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”;
- In Advanced do the “Wipe of Dalvik”;
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
7. After cleaning, now install the ROM.
- Go to “Install Zip From SDCard”;
- Select “Chose Zip From SDCard”;
- Choose and select the ROM file (installation option without Aroma);
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
- Access the “Advanced” menu;
- Select “Reboot Recovery”;
- Reinstall the ROM file;
- Install now, in the same way, the Gapps file if necessary (it is necessary in most ROMs that don't have Arom), but this file only once, without the need to restart the recovery;
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
- Access the “Advanced” menu;
- Select “Fix Permissions” (wait, it may take a while);
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
- Select “Reboot System”;
If ROM you intend to install have the option to install with the AROMA follow the directions above to option 7 and continue from here:
8. Lightly clean the device:
- Select the “Wipe Cache Partition”
- Access the “Advanced” menu;
- Select “Wipe Dalvik Cache”;
- In Advanced do the “Wipe of Dalvik”;
- Return to the first page of Recovery (click on Go Back);
9.After cleaning, now install the ROM.
- Go to “Install Zip From SDCard”;
- Select “Chose Zip From SDCard”;
- Choose and select the ROM file (install option with Aroma).
Ready now automatically AROMA will start and just follow the application options, it has touch , but it is recommended that you calibrate it if it is available, if it has it will be your first option.
After installation the AROMA will restart your device by itself.
If your installation was without the AROMA, you have already selected the option that makes it restart and from here onwards everything happens the same regardless of the version installed.
The first boot can be time consuming. Many ROMs, when booting for the first time asks you to configure your Google on the device as if it was the first time you turned it on, just enter your email address and and that's it.
If the ROM does not ask you to set up your and you are unable to access the Google (Gmail, Play Store, Gtalk, etc) go to settings/configuration, select the option +Add or similar in the main menu or in s and synchronization and add your to the device, take the opportunity to configure the synchronization options right away.
Some ROMs may have a problem that disables Deep Sleep, a feature that makes the device save battery when not in use (screen off), but it is an easy problem to be solved and the ROMs that have this problem have bluesleepfix available on your page.
How to solve the Deep Sleep problem:
- Install through Play Store the free app USpy (https://goo.gl/rgZNL);
- Open the app and then click home, you don't need to check the app screen now because you just turn it on and the screen is on, so it hasn't checked the information yet;
- Leave the device alone, without turning on the screen for about five minutes;
- Access the USpy and check if Deep Sleep was activated or not, if it has any value between 1 and 100% it is because it is working normally, if it appears as an unused resource you will need to install the fix;
- In the same way that you put the ROM and Gapps files in the root of your SD card, also put this fix;
- Restart your device in Recovery mode, but now with any of these ROMs you can do it by pressing the power button and selecting restart in the menu that will appear, choose the recovery option and that's it, your device will restart and enter the recovery mode;
- Wipe Cache Partition;
- Wipe Dalvik Cache (in advanced option);
- Install the fix as if it were a ROM;
- After installation, go to the advanced menu again and select “Fix Permissions”;
- Restart the system … it will fix the applications again and such, it will be like the first boot because there were modifications, but when restarting if you have already ed your in the previous boot you will not need to do it again … check with USpy and you will see that now your Deep Sleep is working and conserving your battery.
IMPORTANT: Only apply the bluesleepfix if Deep Sleep is not working, otherwise, applying it implies turning off Deep Sleep... many think that they can "improve" the performance by applying the fix, but this does not happen, only install the fix if it really is required.
