One of the biggest models in the NanoCell line, the smart TV LG 75NANO90, brings everything a fan of the seventh art could want

With the arrival of films (awaited throughout the year) to Brazilian cinemas, which reopened a few weeks ago on certain networks across the country, not everyone is confident of being able to enjoy a blockbuster with safety. So the viewer who has already gotten used to waiting for releases on-demand and streaming services have increasingly prioritized a good experience in the comfort of their own home. 2t231h

The smart TV market, not coincidentally, has stolen the attention of many people – especially those who are also looking for a good way to enjoy the latest new generation consoles. For reasons such as these, the LG 75NANO90 comes as an addition of stamped templates Nanocell. The line represents intermediate and high-end models of the brand, being the direct competitor of the QLED from Samsung (both QLED and NanoCell are names for TVs with quantum dot displays).

Available in six different series With screens that go up to 86 inches, reproducing ultra-pure and distortion-free colors, LG NanoCell TVs are the perfect choice for even the most demanding movie buffs. The line uses the company's exclusive technology of nanoparticles, which are only one nanometer (nm) in size. She composes a recent update, which even has 8K models from LG.

The model of this analysis, the gigantic Smart TV LG NanoCell 4K 75 inch (75NANO90SNA) of the NanoCell 90 series represents the top of the line in 4K resolution, with over a billion colors and extremely high quality. It is the only NanoCell with HDMI 2.1 and Full Array Local Dimming, technology that controls the contrast between black and white simultaneously. Next, check out what we found in our review of the LG 75NANO90.

Design 145g70

With the only detail of the logo "LG NANOCELL” in the lower right corner of the screen, the TV looks good clean, a point that extends to the most basic lines of the brand's recent releases. Assembly requires pairs of screws on each of the feet, which “click” into place before screwing in so you know everything is ok. While mounted on the rack (in my case), the width of the feet gives a sense of stability.

At the rear, we have a plastic coating – from a distance it looks like brushed metal – and at the ends we see the relatively thin edge. The thickness of the LG 75NANO90 as a whole does not disappoint, nor does it impress: it's enough not to draw much attention from those who see it in profile.

A single addition that would be interesting to the smart TV in of design is a cable channel, which connects both underneath and on the right side (when viewed from the back). So, if I chose to mount it on the wall, I would need additional gear to handle all the connections. Luckily, for those who prefer the NanoCell on a surface, you can count on the clips on the brackets.

Connectivity 5h1q1v

In the back we have 4 HDMI inputs, being two HDMI 2.1 (4K@120Hz, with ARC in one) and two HDMI 2.0 directed to the side, facilitating the connection of cables. Just below them, we see the USB-A duo. At the center of the TV is the unified component input, input for TV signal, ethernet cable and a third USB Type-A.

By having HDMI 2.1, in practice NanoCell is ready to receive the new generation of consoles, launched now in November (PlayStation 5) displaying the best quality 4K graphics at 60 frames per second. As we mentioned earlier, it is the only one in the line to have this addition, which turns out to be a positive point not only among the other smart TVs of the brand but also among the competition in the same price range (and which still do not embrace the technology) .

The LG 75NANO90 tested by us was the 75-inch one, which has an IPS (superior viewing angle without too many reflections), technologies Full Array Local Dimming (32 lighting zones, to improve contrast) and for Dolby Vision, providing a movie worthy image. In boosting at the rate of 120Hz, I had an extremely fluid navigation and noticed little motion blur. When looking at the specs, we understand: the 4ms response helps in reducing blur, even more combined with “Motion Pro” (the black frame insertion), which prevents such imperfections.

Netflix and Prime Video show suggestions stand out in the beautiful interface – suggestions are always welcome!

The image quality is spectacular, although a little below the brand's own OLED, as the lg cx tested by us. In comparison, the CX has individual pixel lighting, which makes it far superior in of quality (and also price), while the LG 75NANO90SNA has an LED/LCD display and requires backlight to work. Through NanoCell's technology, the lighting comes close to the so-called "absolute black", something that doesn't happen on other TVs with backlight more traditional.

Another difference is in processor, as OLED has an Alpha9 and NanoCell has a Alpha7. This is not necessarily synonymous with inferiority, however, when using it on a day-to-day basis we can calculate a few seconds of difference when loading different applications and menus, if we compare to the recent “C” line (C9 and CX) from LG.

Vibrant colors and satisfying contrast in this LED from NanoCell

The big highlight of the TV is the Filmmaker Mode (Film Maker Mode), an essential preset for movie buffs. In practice, this disables all presets of the LG 75NANO90SNA, such as frame interpolation to smooth motion, and prioritize cinematic picture quality. This is a non-exclusive addition by LG to 2020 TV models, but it stands out in this one in particular.

Interestingly, Filmmaker differs from “cinema mode” typical of TV due to its lower lighting – cinema mode scenes are much brighter, but this does not affect the colors themselves. So, otherwise, here we have screen proportions, colors and frame rate faithful to the original work. When watching movies and series streaming in 4K, just activate Filmmaker to notice the difference in fluidity right away. When content allows for automatic HDR activation on the TV, there's even more brightness without sacrificing quality.

Last but not least, there are the modes “Gamer"and "Sports“. The response time (input lag) for games is less than 15 milliseconds and can be activated as soon as the system detects a connected console. The inclusion of technology AMD FreeSync, for example, prevents vertical bands and “breaks” on the screen, which allows you to plug in a brand new console or even a gaming computer without the slightest problem. In addition, the aforementioned Motion Pro enhances the sharpness of fast movements, especially objects and athletes.

Audio 3n1j5g

The smart TV has a 2.0 channel sound system, at 20W of power (RMS), with for the technology Dolby Atmos for sound surround in own output. In sound modes, I got reasonably positive results, with very clean highs and mids – not too much in the lows, as expected.

In the sound output configuration, we see options for connecting optical cable, HDMI ARC, the combination of both to the TV speakers and, of course, Bluetooth. It is curious that, for those who do not have a dedicated sound system, it is possible to simulate surround with a pair of LG speakers.

nanocell lg 75nano90
Via the intuitive control , you can configure the sound output without any problems

It may seem that design doesn't interfere much with the sound, given that generally speakers are located at the base of smart TVs. However, again when comparing the CX, we don't have the sound rebound at the base - which, on its own, has its pros and cons depending on the setup and assembly of the product in your room. The LG 75NANO90SNA pleases, albeit with a clear difference.

Interface and operating system 186g3k

The satisfying and intuitive system interface WebOS 5.0 comes as a complement to all the other good points of the LG 75NANO90. The navigation bar is well distributed, at the bottom of the screen, with program suggestions in the quick navigation of the TV menu for those who subscribe Netflix ou Amazon Prime Video. The shortcuts of the two streaming services are also in control, making it easy to access.

Speaking of which, the remote is still the Magic Remote on LG's 2020 models, which is no exception on the NanoCell. The cursor (mouse type) appears when pointing at the TV, in easy navigation through the menus, made even more fluid by the pleasant refresh rate. In contrast, the scroll of the mouse replaces the central button, making it difficult to master in the first days of use without selection accidents.

nanocell lg 75nano90
From the day the service was launched here, I was able to Disney+

In an interesting addition, on the morning of the 17th there was the option to the newcomer Disney + (Disney Plus) to check out 4K content. A detail of webOS is being able to place a favorite channel from YouTube as a quick shortcut in the navigation bar – as it is, perfect for those who have already accepted that they watch more channels and movies on-demand than open TV.

Apart from all the compliments, I must mention that the installation process is a bit confusing, with warnings and pop-ups preventing you from having a good first impression of NanoCell. Fortunately, after the setup I didn't have any performance drops or problems with the installed apps. The app store, channel navigation, smart functions and configuration menus all ran smoothly.

Voice assistants and artificial intelligence 54z29

On the controller we see the microphone button that, when held, opens the MyMovies | LG's own. There is also for Google Assistant and for the Amazon Alexa (holding the Prime Video shortcut). In all three interactions, we get the kind of response common from smart TVs with an integrated assistant, with no highlights or surprises.

In the case of LG's own assistant, I noticed a positive point by sheer accident: just by pressing the microphone button, you receive suggestions of what to watch on LG's own channels. The online TV list resembles the cable TV schedule, with channels to choose from and pre-set schedules.

By default, the Looke shows movie suggestions (by saying, for example, “show me comedy movies”) and Disney Plus is still not properly integrated into the system (“watching Mandalorian on Disney Plus” opens video suggestions on YouTube). On Netflix everything went normally when talking about specific programs (Queen's Gambit e Stranger Things), but when asking for “horror movies on Netflix”, it is strange to have the suggestion of series first, with movies in sequence in a secondary tab.

A pity to know that this TV is sold as “with Google's personal assistant"and "with artificial intelligence“but you can't turn it on or off with your voice. This may be due to the connection modes and the operating system itself, which even allow integration with the ThinQ AI system and connection to other devices, however, it does not release control of the LG 75NANO90SNA while turned off. Needing to tap the controller without activating words (“Ok, Google” or “Alexa”) is also a weakness.

nanocell lg 75nano90
Through TV detection, smart lamps are integrated into the smart home ecosystem

As the hub of intelligent systems, the LG 75NANO90 satisfies. It can even integrate Apple devices (it has AirPlay2) and mirror a device with an Android system on overlay, that is, superimposed on the watched content. I also connected the lamp LG SL9YG soundbar for testing, and both worked fine. Anyone who prefers to use a smart speaker to control it, like the Echo Dot, can also.

Speaking of the system's intelligence, we have the audio application: the AI Acoustic Tuning calibrates ambient sound based on the controller's microphone to deliver "the best experience for the environment“. Other interesting settings are AI to improve the image, in addition to the aforementioned Film Maker Mode which can be automatically activated to display cinematic content.

Conclusion 60664y

A LG 75NANO90 houses artificial intelligence, Dolby audio and video technologies, top-of-the-line connections and great contrast to display in an unparalleled of the NanoCell line. As it represents the highest standard of the brand's 4K televisions, almost every point has been refined to deliver spectacular performance.

REVIEW: Smart TV NanoCell 4K LG 75NANO90, a cinematic spectacle

It can be a great TV in bright spaces with many simultaneous viewers without anyone's viewing being compromised, as it has an IPS . In dark environments, it does well for having the adjustment zones (Full Array Local Dimming), even if it is inferior to LG's OLEDs – for those with more trained eyes. By far the strong point is that it has literally everything you could ask for in a gaming television, thanks to HDMI 2.1 and FreeSync, at a more economical price than the higher tier (8K) televisions.

By the way, in relation to cost-benefit it is within the average when compared to one of the direct competitors, which would be the Samsung q80t (quantum dots, against this NanoCell) of the same size. The 75-inch model of the LG 75NANO90, as tested by us, has been priced at R$14.999,00 since launch, but it can be found in stores like Magazine Luiza by R$12.159,05.
