Great news for fans of Watchmen, one of the most renowned comics in the world: the HBO commissioned the pilot scripts for the comic book spinoff series.
the screenwriter of lost, from the movie Star Trek (2009) and co-creator of The Leftovers, Damon Lindelof was chosen to be responsible for the script of the series.
The information, according to Deadline, was given by Lindelof himself in his instagram when making a post related to Watchmen.
Casey bloys, president of HBO, says that Lindelof is committed to creating unprecedented material within this universe: “Damon is one of the smartest, most ionate and dedicated screenwriters I've ever worked with. He's planning fantastic things"
The series is also expected to have nothing to do with the 2009 Watchmen movie.

The creation of Alan Moore e Dave Gibbons sold thousands of copies and made Time's list of 100 Best Literary Works and Entertainment Weekly's Top 50 Books of the Last 25 Years.
Published in the 80s, Watchmen takes place in an alternate world where the presence of American superheroes has changed the course of history: the US has won the Vietnam War, Nixon is still president and the Cold War is raging to its full potential.
The comic's plot begins with a mysterious murder that leads to a recurring event in the Watchmen universe: when a retired superhero is killed, his former teammates must investigate the causes that resulted in his death.
The conspiracy they uncover brings secret trauma to the surface, calling into question just how thin the line is between heroes and villains.
Other adaptations
Watchmen was brought to movie screens by Zack Snyder e Darren Aronofsky, in addition to other comics that depict the preludes of the graphic novel by Moore and Gibbons.
The story was also made into a video game for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 consoles.
