Virus e malwares are already old news in the world of PCs and laptops. So much so that, for many s, installing a good antivirus is the first thing to do after taking your new laptop out of the box. That's when it's not already installed from the factory.
According to statistics, attacks of this kind have increased exponentially in the last 5 years. If we look at the last 12 months, however, it appears to have leveled off, which is also not good news as the levels are quite high. Look:

This is the Malwarebytes, program available for Desktops with Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista e Windows XP. Among paid and free programs, it was ranked highest. All the others missed some threat in the situations simulated by the tests.
A AV-Test performed rigorous tests for 10 months, exposing the anti-malware to several known families of these virtual pests. No unknown malware was used, as the objective was to test the application's ability to identify and remove the intruder, as well as restore the system.
O Malwarebytes scored 100% efficiency, followed by paid Bitdefender with 99,4% in second and Kaspersky e F-Secure tied for third with 97,8%. Another free anti-malware only came in seventh place, AVG Antivirus, which achieved 96,1% of performance.
Knowing that "there is no free lunch", before rushing off to the number one antivirus, it's good to know that the list of permissions required by the program is long and even includes access to your device's camera and microphone in the mobile version. In times after revelations about the NSA and the “alternative” methods of mass data collection used by them, it's good to review the whitelist carefully before deciding to install it.
