On December 4th, 5th and 6th, Maui, the second largest island in Hawaii, will host the event Snapdragon Tech Summit 2018. As in last year's edition, the showmetech was invited by Qualcomm and we will be in loco transmitting all the news that happen there. 41l6d
To prepare you for what may happen at the event, we prepared this warm up with the main news that Qualcomm should address.
The third edition of Snapdragon Tech Summit will feature Cristiano Amon, President of Qualcomm Incorporated and Alex Katouzian, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Devices, and promises to be the stage for the announcement of a new processor, the Snapdragon 8150.
Novelties such as projects for 5G and also for the concept of always connected PCs, which had already been covered in last year's edition of Snapdragon Tech Summit, should come with new advances. Learn more about the topics that should be addressed:
Snapdragon 8150 3o2u1w
During last year's edition of the Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm has revealed all the details about the Snapdragon 845. In this year's edition, a new SoC should be on the agenda: Snapdragon 8150 – also covered in some rumors like Snapdragon 855.
Regardless of what it's called, it will be the most powerful processor to run Android smartphones from companies like Samsung, LG, Sony, Asus and other major global smartphone manufacturers in 2019. The expectation is that this octa-core SoC will be based on the 7nm model – manufactured by TSMC, with the division of cores into three clusters.
At the top of the chain is Kyro Gold, a high-powered core with a 2KB L512 cache, which should run at 2.84GHz. Following, we will have three more cores, also Kyro Gold, but with 256 KB of L2 cache and clock of 2,41 GHz. To top it off, four cores where the focus is on energy efficiency (based on ARM's new Dynamic architecture), with 128 KB Kyro Silver cores L2 cache, running at 1.78 GHz.
If the rumors are confirmed, this will be the first processor of the Qualcomm then the order of cores, based on 3 scales.

Regarding the graphics potential of the new processor, the expectation is that the GPU will be about 20% more powerful than the best current option in the market. Qualcomm, Adreno 630. O Snapdragon 8150 you should also bring the modem Snapdragon X50, compatible with 5G. Theme of our next topic!
5G: the hot topic 6o2i3o
5G really promises to be revolutionary. While 4G is still an era of connecting only a few devices, with 5G we will see the Internet of Things gain strength, opening the door for several products to be connected, and the massification of smart cities.
Evidently the Qualcomm will enter this market, providing, for example, modems compatible with the fifth generation of mobile connectivity. During the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2018, the company should talk about its first modem compatible with the technology, the Snapdragon X50, which s the frequency of up to 28 Ghz.
According to Qualcomm, 18 manufacturers have already confirmed that they will use the modem in their smartphones, including ASUS, LG, Nokia, Xiaomi e Sony. The first 5G-capable smartphones are expected to arrive in 2019.
Recently the Sprint, together with HTC, confirmed that it will launch a powerful 5G mobile smart hub in the first half of 2019, already with the Snapdragon X50. It may be that during the event they will comment on this case.
always connected PCs 6bh59
Just as Snapdragon 845, the 2017 edition of the Snapdragon Tech Summit also hosted the presentation of the Always Connected PC, the concept of always-on PCs, which involves a partnership between Qualcomm, Microsoft and several big names in the computer market, such as ASUS e HP, which put on the market notebooks following this concept.
Basically, always connected PCs carry two characteristics: the integration between ARM chips, more precisely those of QualcommAnd Windows 10, in addition to an excellent battery life (24 hours). THE Samsung was the first to release a computer with this chip.
No Snapdragon Tech Summit 2018, a Qualcomm should reveal a new processor for this platform, but much more powerful. we are talking about Snapdragon 10000, which like the Snapragon 8150 would be manufactured under the 7nm process. Just to give you an idea of how this processor promises a performance jump, Qualcomm would have almost doubled its TDP, which is the maximum amount of power that needs to be dissipated, jumping from 6,5W on the Snapdragon 850 to 12W on the Snapdragon 1000. More power, more heat generated!
The expectation is that this processor has eight cores, clocked at around 3.0 GHz. The 20 x 15 mm chip (the Snapdragon 850 measures 12 x 12 mm) would not be soldered to the board, like a conventional SoC, it would fit into a socket. The performance jump should be around 35%. The rivalry with Intel in 2019 in the notebook/hybrid market will be very interesting!
