With the inclusion of ninth digit in São Paulo mobile numbers, a question arises: how are the free messaging and calling services like whatsapp, viber and iMessage?
All of these apps use a “” system that uses your phone number to s. So much so that, when using the application for the first time, it is necessary to “” your line and your device, confirming the operation with a code, sent via SMS. In other words: your is your phone number.
In order not to be left out of conversations and keep up to date with your friends' agendas, follow the steps below:
- Inform in the status area of each application that you have changed your number. For example, write the sentence: “I changed it to the new number 9XXXX-XXXX";
- Then disable the s in each app:
- No WhatsApp, look for the button Menu and select Settings > Information > Delete My ;
- No Viber, search for More > Deactivate ;
- Alternative: if you prefer, you can uninstall and reinstall each application;
- Now, when re-ing, enter your number with the ninth digit;
- Finally, use one of the apps from this list to update all s in your phonebook (who have cell phones in São Paulo) with the ninth digit;
- After that, everything goes back to normal!
Update 01/08/2012:
For those who haven't made the change in the Whatsapp, there is one more possibility. As informed today by the application development team, they are aware of the problem and will work on a form of automatic migration to the new São Paulo numbers. The solution should be presented in the coming weeks.
